This is one of the hardest cards to ever have to create, however we all have needed to share one with a loved one before. My husband has stated to me over and over again how I should create sympathy cards, I just refused to make them. Then one day while we were in a craft store he just started pulling stamps he wanted me to use. Well that's been months ago, and now the time has come that I needed to use it.

Although, I stamped a pop of color with the butterfly, I still consider this to be a tone on tone or monochromatic card.

Here again, I used the same stamps (because I love it:) just a different sentiment.

Up close of the pearls on the card. I added a couple of variou sized pearls on the card just to give it a bit of detail. I think these are two really soft cards and pretty to be a flat based card, I'm so used to creating in dimension that it's just odd creating a flat card.

I think I will work on creating more tone on tone cards soon, and add a bit of dimension to them. This is going to be fun!

Simple+Happy= Lovely Card

Don'tcha just love a pretty happy card? I know I do. I love even more the fact that I created it with no creative direction at all and it still came out really pretty. Annnnndddd I know exactly who will receive this little pretty:)

Now for a close up of the pretty pearl floral embellishment. I had to make myself use at least one of them. Yall know I'll hoard a pretty embellishment in a minute. What?? You don't hoard pretty embellishments, just waiting on the perfect craft to use it on? Well, I seem to decorate my studio with them and my vision board too. Gotta love great embellishment.

Also, I know it seems as if I've turned into a card maker only, but I promise I've been working on other stuff too. As soon as I finish my other projects, I'll share them here *giggles*

Cards That Didn't Make The Cut

Late last year I tried my hand at submitting some of my work to be published in a card making magazine. The call was for baby cards, birthday cards, and a couple more items. Somehow I focused more on baby cards, it was fun creating these cards too. Sadly, none of my cards were chosen for the specified publication. But, I'm so happy that I took that leap and started submitting...and I'm not done yet:)

Clean and simple ehh...

Kinda vintage looking baby card. I almost had enough supplies left to create a matching box, turned out my box was a bit larger than the pattern paper I had left...bummer

This was THE SIMPLEST and QUICKEST card and I love it! Great for a little boy's back to school card.

I think this is the sweetest card. Wish I knew someone having a little baby girl.

Masculine birthday card. I'd actually made two of these cards and one was for Karohn's birthday.

That felt flowerish piece gave me fits!! Still practicing on those, and I'm winning:)

Gotta love those cork letters and mini baby pins.

I *heart* this sketch. My card:

I love the vintage look of this card. And of course you know who will receive this card right?? *smile* This is my version of a masculine valentine card.

I have a couple of new stamp sets and I was very eager to put them to use. It's a mix of Pink Paislee stamps and one of the wedding sets by Making Memories. I also used a miniture print script stamp by Glitz to stamp my background on the kraft card base.

With this card, I'm still creating basically from my scrap stash. Since I dove into my beads and begin crafting, I found these pretty little asian inspired beads and added two of them to my decorative pin.

LOL @ the torn segment at the bottom of my mat...that was totally UNintentional. I was so busy distressing away and talking to Aaron that I ripped the paper. So, I just went with it and ripped it a bit more, then inked the edges and the torn piece to match the distressed edges.

I love everything about this card, I just wish I had more of that paper to create a duplicate...darn

Happy Birthday - Pretty

This weekend was a GREAT weekend and I'm in crafter's full swing!!!

Let's start the reveal of what I created with a card challenge. I must say, I stared at this sketch for a while, didn't quite know where I wanted to go with it.

I love the sketch, but was just rather stuck on how I wanted to create with it. As you see I moved some things around and deleted some things. Dunno how I get all off track like that - LOL!!

For my card I ended up scoring even points and stamping each one. This card was created totally from scraps, with the exception of the ribbon and lace. I used all petite G Studio stamps and inks. In the end this card was fairly quick, and I enjoyed every scrapping minute of it.

Now, on to a semi finished item. I have absolutely no idea how on earth I ran out of jump rings..but I did and I refused to get dressed and leave the house again to go purchase some.

I started creating felt floral necklaces and pins. This was a bit of a task and this particular flower gave me a bit of a fit, but I won in the end:)

I can't wait to show you the finished products ^_^ I even created a pin I've wanted for a denim jacket...that I don't even own yet...need I say I have a vision.

My Smash Book - Adventures

I love love my smash book!! And of course I purchased the pink one, but I will be getting the vintage blue smash and of course the black then I'm done...seriously:) I just like looking at this book, like seriously it's just that cool.

I don't know what it is about me and cover sheets but I created a cover sheet for my smash. I'm utilizing everything in my book. Love that the bottom line on the vellum sheet said: Messy and Beautiful.

My smash box for the car...as this book will mostly be created while on the road, I created a carry along box, not too big and not too small and included some of my own pieces to use in the book. I don't really care for the smash stuff, so I created some of my own using shipping tags, buttons, brads and a few of my unused PP Daily Junque cut outs and printed a few I've already used (thank goodness my packet came with a CD:). I also included some ribbon remnants and added double sided tape to make it pre-adhesive for on the go scrapping.

Second two pages: One I used a calendar (not current of course) and journaled a bit about what this book will be about. And the final page is a growing list of places and things we plan on doing this year. Since taking this picture, I've added a few more spots to the page that we're sure we will get to do and Chicago has been replaced with San Antonio...WOOT WOOT!!! But, I do have a solo trip planned for Chicago...triple WOOT!!! Now let's just pray that plan don't have to change.

We did take a mini trip to Carrollton, GA this weekend, just to sight see and of course stop by my favorite not so LSS to pick up some goodies and show my face in the place:). So, I'll be creating that page very soon.

I can't wait to start taking on a few of our family adventures...so I can create more pages:D

Framed Pin Cushion

When I saw this picture I immediatly knew I had to make one for myself...ARGH ok maybe two:)

This one was created by A Diamond in the Stuff, isn't it adorable. Oddly, I just realized my frame is very similar to hers and I purchased mine from my favorite thrift store. Although it was dollar tree price, I really liked the frame design.

This is my frame before I cleaned it up and distressed it. Not the cutest thing ever right?

Because I didn't like the color of my frame, I decided to distress it with some acrylic paint and crackle medium. Well, my crackle medium I guess had crackled out, so I ended up taking a chance and using some Tim Holtz distress crackle in rock candy, and it worked perfectly.

This is my completed frame. Oh how I love vintage pieces:) I created a mini felt floral piece and sewed it on, then added a papercrafting coco pearl to the center of the flower.

I really love my pin cushion frame:)

On to my framed pin cushion #2:

This one was simply easy peasy. All I did for this one is remove the glass front and add my felt. This fram will be used for my scrapbook pins.

These are some Maya Road pins and Tim Holtz clear embellishments I've added to the frame. I'm sure before long, I'll have pearls and other decorative pins adorning this pin cushion. I simply adore these.

Project Life 2012

This year I decided to not only create my own Project Life album, but also to tackle smaller sized albums this year. I've become bored with creating 12X12 LO's and need a change. Creating smaller LO's widens my creative options to stamping my own patterned paper too.

That's exactly what I did for my cover page. I created this page with no set style process, in other words, I just winged it.

I love polka dots and word script, so I combined the two. For the stick pins, I added a couple of beads to them, to add a bit of color.

For the first page, I practiced more stamping on a LO. The stamping went fine...it was my spray mist that went a bit crazy. LOL I don't know what went wrong, but once my mist finally sprayed it went EVERYWHERE and on everything both times. I think maybe because I'd not used this color in a while, the nozzle was clogged, not sure, but it was a mess.

I found some wire I've had for ever and decided to use more of my beads and create my own embellishment. I really enjoyed making these beaded embellishments, I figure that's another way to use up my spare beads.

All that glitters!!! I love "The Bling" love it!! Remember the wooden letters I purchased from Walmart a while ago? Well, for sure you knew I was NOT going to trash them just because the misting effect wasn't grand...no no no. These wooden gems have been glitzed and I love it.

Anyway, I'm off to a great start with my Project Life album or not so album..lol. Thing is I don't want to use a actual scrapbook to keep it in. So, I'm not sure how I will preserve it. I've thought of making my own binder and use rings to hold it. I've even thought of breaking down these two pages and creating a not so mini mini album of it. I'm not so sure yet, but I do know I want something not so traditional. I sure hope to figure it out very soon:)

Quick and Simple Gift Card Holder

**First Post of the Year**

Happy New Year my lovely and fellow crafters!!!! I pray you all have a very blessed and wonderful year AGAIN this year. I am looking forward to having a year full of crafty goodness^_^

I must share this oh so quick and simple gift card sleeve with you guys!! I goofed, like really goofed..I forgot a gift and ended up having to purchase a gift card as a gift for someone. As you know, when you purchase a gift card you need something cute to place it in right?? RIGHT!!

Well, I've never created a gift card holder before so I really had not idea of how to start (especially being this was a last minute thing). I kept trying to envision a card holder and figure the shape, all the while not wanting to create another greeting card. I finally came up with the idea to cut a circle and score folds to create the holder. NOTE: I did not want to do a bunch of detailed or fussy cuts and folds and such..extra simple is what I was going for.

If you look in the background (among my clutter of stamps and such), you will see a purple circle that's been scored..that's one of my practice pieces. I think I cut two of the circles before I gained the proper size needed for the card. Overall, I think I did a great job. I really liked it and so did the recipient.

This is what the back looks like. I will surely create many many more of these to be used on cards, LO's and of course to give as gifts. I will come back a little later and do quick tutorial on how I created my gift card sleeve. I think this is a very cute and quick way to embellish gift cards.

For this sleeve, I used some holiday paper I had on hand and, stamped my desired image's on plan card stock. I enhanced Santa's face by adding Stickles, adhered with pop dots over his jolly laugh and ran out the door. LOL!! It was truly that simple...well you do have to allow the stickles to dry and I had enough time between creating it and delivering it where it dry perfectly:)

I know I've said this before, but I must say it again...I think a scoring board (especially Martha Stewart's score board) is THE BEST thing they ever came out with for paper crafters. Lord, do I remember the days of having to use a ruler to measure and score my work. *Thank God for the brain behind score boards*

Anyway, I can't wait to create more of these!!

My "One Little Word"

I'm so ready to take on a new year!! There are so many things I'm planning...doing, changing, being, creating, and the list goes on and on. I feel the need to shed this old skin and begin a new. Thing is, my new year started a couple of months ago, I truly believe change begins the moment you think it. The moment you meditate on making a change in your life, that's the moment that change begin..Action is the key to change. No one can expect something different from doing the same ole thing, you MUST do something different to gain a new result.

From moment to moment, day to day our lives change; season's change; people change...this statement came to mind and I initially thought of choosing the word "Change". However, something spoke to me saying, "that's not it". Late one Monday night, while lying in bed it struck me.."READY"

That's my word..

There are so many things that transpire in life, that sometimes life itself can get the best of you. Often times we can get so wrapped up in the things of this world, and it can cause you to lose focus on what's really important/valuable (keep) and what's not (trash). It's important to know who you are in Christ, not to let the actions of other's cloud your mind and drain you of your energy..that's not of God. Be ready at all times, live "this" life to the fullest, be equipped, be willing to let go...

All of the above explains my mode, but mostly, I am equipped by God and eager to start.

Also remember, when starting fresh or starting over with anything in life, you don't have to wait until the first of the year. A new start begins with the mindset to do better, to go forth. If anyone or anything is hindering you from going forth, I suggest you unleash it and move on..going backwards or standing still is not an option in my life.

What better way to end the year with getting my mojo sturring with a card challenge ^_^

I somehow got a bit of kilter from participating in papercrafting challenges, and I really want to hop back in..so here we go.

How about starting with one of my favorite challenge blogs.

The Sketch:

My card: This was such a simple and sweet card to create. And I so love this stamp, I purchased it from Michael's for a buck and I adore it so much that I plan on purchasing another one. The second one I plan on removing the rubber base and trim it down to be used as a cling on so I can use it a bit differently.

To create this card I used PTI cardstock in Vintage Cream, Ripe Avocado and Lavendar Moon. I stamped my image with Versamark's watermark ink. The embellishments used were, pink sheer ribbon, lace, pearls and floral embellishment by Recollections and Tim Holtz distressed inks in walnut stain and antique linen. I also used a bit of Stickles in Star Dust on the polymer type rose. The edges of the card and the sentiment were distressed with antique linen ink. I also distressed the edges of the lavendar moon cardstock with my TH distresser. My distresser is one of the best tools I've ever purchased. That's a tool that I could stand to have two of, just in case they decide to stop selling it in the future..I love that little tool:)

I hope to get a lot more of my creations posted in days to come. In the meantime...

Perfectly Chocolate

For Thanksgiving my hubster asked me to bake him a double chocolate cake. He's not big on the sweets or cake, but he loves chocolate, and for him to want a cake so badly of course I had to bake him one. His specifications were, 3 layers of chocolate cake, with ooey gooey chocolate icing. Well, I've never baked a double chocolate cake before, I've only baked a pound cake with chocolate icing. I knew I needed to find a recipe that would not fail me..first I searched none other than The Pioneer woman (of course), then I though...Hershey's Chocolate..lemme see if they have a recipe site.

Let me tell yall!!! This cake was gone in a day and a half. Everyone loved it

Now, dont look at the chocolate on the cake plate, I did not do my usual wax paper on the base to keep the icing off the plate. And yes my cake is lumpsided..LMBO!! I failed to shake the batter in two of the pans...Ok now let's get back to this chocolatE goodness.

The other day Don mentioned, "I sure could go for a slice of the double chocolate cake right now".."you need anything from the store":) That was my hint to get baking.

I baked the cake and I also made one of his favorite quick pasta dishes..all before he made it home from work. This man walks in the door, took a peek at the dish on the stove, then notice the mixer..turns and see "his" cake. He ate cake before he had his dinner!! LOL

This is THE easiest and quickest cake to ever bake and it's totally yummmOOO!

"PERFECTLY" Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

The Method:

*Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
*Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.
* Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.

CHOCOLATE FROSTING

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine

2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa

3 cups powdered sugar

1/3 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency.Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.

Joy--A Quick Holiday Card

I created this quick card to give out at my office for the holidays. Well, quick as I could assembly line stamp and distress the edges make them, that was the most time consuming part. *laughing* I actually almost went out and purchased a box of cards to give out to everyone this year. I ended up just deciding to narrow down my mailing list this year, I'll pick it back up next year.
This card was created by cutting a A2 card base, then cutting the desired sized mats for my layers. Stamping the music and the sentiment on the top layer, then adhere both the green and cream cardstock together. I cut the mini stars using my cricut and stamped "joy" on each and attached them with Making Memories garment pins. The mini jingle bell used (I hate you can't see it in this pic) was strung with hemp (which is usually used for jewerly making). From there, lace and ribbon and that was it.

Such a quick and cute holiday card for the staff, just what you need when you're crunched for time, and everyone loved it.

Do You Bargain Shop??

I think most of you know by now that I love to go thrift/estate/garage/consignment shopping. I've been "Thrifting" I think now for about eleven years, with minor breaks in between. I shop estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, anywhere there's a real sale I'm there.

I don't know if it's the surprise of finding a deal or if it's just a thrill all together, however, I love to go thrift shopping.

This night stand is a piece I found at my favorite local thrift store about a month ago. I scored this little beauty for $12. I was planning on using it in our soon to be guest bedroom...well Mr. Aaron was so in love with it he want it for his room. So after the holidays, this little knick free beauty will be sanded and stained to match his Armoire. And of course I will post and update of this when it's complete.

This panel I purchased from a local hardware store. I often do a early morning before work pop in at Lowe's just to see what's been placed on sale/clearance the night before. I used to do real good on purchasing what they call "oops paint"..that's when paint has been returned and they change the color of it so the original purchaser won't come back and repurchase it for the marked down cost of a whole whopping 5bucks (run on sentence I know:).

Anyway, this is what the panel looks like..

I love love love it!! So soft and crisp...well when I iron it, it'll be crisp:) As much as I love the white, and this panel is a beautiful thing to me, there's no way I would have paid $24.97 for ONE panel. But I'm very happy I found this on the shelf, only thing, I wish they had two, but I'll make one work.

Now, this beauty right here....

Oh how I L.O.V.E this table! Yes, it has a few scratches, but nothing that I can't work with. I paid a whole $9.98 for this end table. Now this table will be used in our guest bedroom..I think:) Who know's exactly where I'll place it. I will possibly sand it a bit and restain it, or I could do a distress with paint..not sure yet. But what I am sure of is I love this piece and I'm so happy I found it.

When I go thrifting, I also usually find great dress shirts for Aaron and jackets and such for me and Don. I've purchased so many items, that once I asked the hubster where he got the sweater shirt from he had on..didn't recognize it as one I'd purchased..plus I thought it was new..oops:)

If you have not given thrifting or even consignment shopping a try, I suggest that you do. Grab your local yellow pages and rip out the pages with consignment shops on it and go looking to get a feel for it. Don't like a store, then mark it off the list and move on to the next one. Check out your local newspaper on a Thursday or Friday and thumb through the garage/estate sales section and then check them out come sunrise that Friday-Saturday. You will be amazed at the great pieces people put up for sale.

Inspiration Boards

How many of you create inspiration boards? I think they are really great, whether you have a studio or a section in your home to craft, there's always room for some form of a inspiration board.

No matter your craft; displaying pictures, words, colors, and even some of your own work helps promote creativity. I tend to gain inspiration from a number of things, mostly nature itself. While driving, I've had Aaron to take a picture of something..trees, the sky, a sign, what ever has caught my eye. There are inspiring factors in everything. Take the time to admire what God has given us in nature, you will be amazed at what will inspire you to create.

Below, is my inspiration board, I've already cleared it from all the stuff I had on it for 2011. It's time to start new for the upcoming year.

On my board I usually have faith based words or saying, power words, fabric swatches, home decor/remodling, sewing, scrapbooking and even crocheted items posted. Regardless if I get to accomplish the posted item or not, I post it and try to work toward it. Often, I may even replace a picture or what ever the item is with a new one that I like better.

Below is my smaller inspiration board, this one is just for accessories.
Though this board is almost completely full, I will not be removing any of these items. However, I will be adding to it. These items will either be made or purchased...I've really got to get back into beading. I have a necklace and bracelet I really want to make soon, so yea, I really need to get started.

I also plan on recovering this board with a different fabric. I only used this fabric because it was a reminate I had left over from a previous project...I'm certain this will become a throw pillow or something.

Now, be mindful that inspiration boards don't have to be a wall hung board at all. Just a few ideas on how you can create your own, especially if your space is limited:

Purchase a piece of cork and a sizeable picture frame (or create your own..that may be a later post) and a frame holder. Remove the glass front of your frame, insert the cork and begin posting your inspired pictures, etc. This way it can sit on your desk top and can be put away when need be. Also, if you have a Ross or TJMaxx in your area, you will surely find some very pretty frame holders there to use (personally, I'm addicted to them).

Use folders, there are some very pretty pre-decorated folders out there to be used. Tape your pictures, write words, use markers to create colors inside your folder and even label each folder to fit your craft of choice. Once you begin working, pull out the desired folder and place it on your frame holder on your work station.

If you do have wall space, yet want a smaller scale inspiration board, why not check your local thrift store for a nice large picture frame. With this you can either purchase a cork backing or keep the cardboard backing. Take note of any imperfections on the frame, repair those, paint it if desired. Now with the cardboard backing, you have two options: 1. Depending on the thickness of the cardboard, paint it and use it that way or 2. Cover it using pretty wall paper or wrapping paper.

Two non-board methods: 1. If you have a filing cabinet or any type of sizable metal cabinetry, it's very easy to just create a vision board per se by using small creative magnets to hold what inspires you. 2. Make your non-board by clipping various pictures by using fishing thread. Purchase two wall clips (you know the wall safe clips you use to hold pictures without punching a nail hole in the wall) Secure the fishing line between the two clips then attach your pictures to the line...just like hanging clothes out to dry...like I really know anything about that:)

As you can see the possibilities of creating an inspiration board are endless. Also, the cost is very minimal. My accessory board is a piece of ceiling tile left over from replacing a tile in my studio. I used fabric left over from a pevious project to cover it and stapled it to the back, added a picture hook and there you have it. The extra large inspiration board was a freebie, my husband painted a office and the owner was throwing it out..SCORE!! I painted the frame of it black to match my work desk (as it was silver when he brought it home).

And there you have it! Be inspired by all you see and post that inspiration where you can see it daily, so that it helps encourage you to continue on this wonderful journey we call our hobby.

**First it amazed me to pieces to find a picture of a center piece that is almost exact to the one I'm creating for my holiday table. And in usual fashion, I like this one better..because I love the look of the acorns in this one.

Thanksgiving as I see it is not a "day" set aside for us to give thanks..EVERYDAY and I mean every.single.day is a day for giving thanks. While we all are living and breathing we should have the spirit of "Thanksgiving" in our hearts. I for one am thankful for the good and the bad, for without the bad we wouldn't grow..you just can't. Be thankful for your blessings as well as missed blessing, see like I said I'm thankful for it all. Now that doesn't by any means say that I'm happy about the bad, but it comes along with this thing called life. In my life, I've had my share of ups and downs, meaning I've had great things to happen to and for me and I've had not so good things to happen. However, in the mist of it all, God has continued to bless me and for that I'm thankful.

Thankful: feeling gratitude; feeling or expressing gratitude

This is a feeling that should live in your soul daily. We have so much to be gracious for, and yet many of us seem to allow the slightest of things weigh us down. We have been blessed with much and yet expect so much more, and yet have the nerve to go about life and not give thanks...all the while expecting more.

Gratitude is a good look, don't ever think it's a show of weakness. Boasting is ugly, not cute at all, actually to me it's quite hilarious when people do it. It's a true sign of weakness and lack of confidence in knowing who you are. See when Jesus died on the cross for all of my sins..he validated me at that point. So there's never any need for me to try to impress other's with the worldly items I've accumulated. This is just temporary..yet I thank him. However, the highest set goal I have is to reach the Kingdom of Heaven and to spend my eternity with my father. Yet, while I'm on this journey on earth, I will continue to do all I can to be what God wants me to be, to do what God has set out for me to do. Now, do I mess up that plan...YES I sure do..sometimes intentional and often unintentional. Yes, I fall as we all do, but I get up, brush myself off, repent, thank God for what happened knowing what ever the situation it could have been worse then move right along to start my journey to get it right (run on sentence at it's best).

So as we all gather with family and friends to partake in our traditional Thanksgiving festivities, please remember that giving thanks is not and should not be a once a year thing nor a holiday thing. Giving thanks should be a part of your daily utterance, spoken from your heart and mouth.

Thank God for ALL he's done for you and for ALL that he will do--DAILY.

December Daily

Are you planning on creating a December Daily? I learned of this from Ali's blog last year and I LOVE creating these.

Last year I even attempted to create myself a birthday daily, where I would journal for the entire month of February for my birthday..sad to say it didn't happen BUT for 2012 I will. I will start on my pages in January that way all I'll have to do is extra embellishing and adding photo's for the month of February.

Anyway, back to my December Daily. Here are just a few pic's of my gathering of products I plan on using. I'm not really big on purchasing holiday specific papers, so I don't have much of that at all.In case you're wondering what the lunch bag is for...well that's going to be the base of my book. It'll all be covered with paper and embellishments. I purchased the lunch bags from Dollar General on sale I think 2/$1.00. *My blog should be called the bargain scrapper*

Although, this is not all I'll be using for my DD, this is what I've pulled from my stash on hand to use. I'm planning on having a vintage rustic Christmas this year so this shall be exciting and fun to create.I will hopefully get all of my pages completed at my all day crop on Friday. All that I don't complete I hope to finish up before Monday. That way I'll be all set to begin daily scrapping and picture taking for the month of December. I can't wait to share my Decemeber Daily with you all and I would love to see what you have created or will create also. Creating Memories at it's Best

The Daily News....I created not one LO but several LO's. I don't know how I merged off to just card making, but somehow I got on that card creating boat and stayed on for the ride:)

For this LO, I pretty much let the pattern paper do the trick. There wasn't much I needed to add being that it has so much already going on with it. The pattern paper is from Pink Paislee's Daily Junque collection...as you see I even used the name from the tab of the sheet. Waste not want not you see:) I've often used portions of the strip we remove that describes the pattern paper on my LO, especially MME papers. In creating this LO, I decided to pull "junque" items to use on it. What I mean by junque items is, I used scrap pieces like the magic mesh, the fabric flower I made ions ago and scraps of paper and corragated board.

I found a sheet of Hambly I had that I didn't even know I still had *I heart Hambly*. It's a sheet of multi shaped frames and I cut one and positioned it over one side of my picture.

And of course added spashes of acrylic paints, pearls and bling all over the LO. The wooden letters are also from the Daily Junque collection.

This LO is titled Love to skate..but I Love this LO:) And of course Aaron does too, he even had a little input on my creating this LO. When he saw the clock I added, he asked if I could make it look old and cracked looking...well of course I could.

I used crackle accents liquid adhesive by Ranger. Being that I had already adhered the vellum clock to cardstock, once the crackle was applied and begin to dry the vellum curled at the edges. I loved it even more, because then I could distress the edges more. So I used my paper distresser and added some distressed ink.

And the letter's are cork, found those at Joann's I think it was last year. Sadly they are almost gone...well there are no more words that can be spelled with what I have left. I'm thinking on a way to use up random letters (remember waste not want not:)

I really need to work on journaling more on my LO's. I have the toughest time journaling unless I'm creating a hidden journal, which is usually something written that's personal. I plan on working on my journaling more in the new year, right now I want to concentrate on scrapping as many pictures from 2011 as I can before the year end. In 2012 I want to only scrap from 2012 pictures with the exception of some of my favorite 2011 pictures and Karohn's military book *hangs head in shame* that I've YET to purchase and start on. I'm still working on his regular mini book. I'm getting there...scrap by scrap. I just, maybe a month or two ago placed a HUGE amount of my LO stack into it's proper books. I still have a stack of LO's to file in books. A word to the wise: Never ever let your LO's stack up to HUGE mounds! That was a day's worth of work and I'm still not done...confession: The two above LO's and several other's I've yet to post about are in a stack BUT not for long *I hope*

Thanks (interjection) Used to express gratitude to somebody; An expression of gratitude or appreciation for something.

To give thanks is not just a gesture that should be shown at Thanksgiving. To give thanks (to me) is more than a couple of words, it's a feeling. A feeling one should possess daily being that we all have an abundance to be thankful for. If you are reading this blog right now, you have plenty to be thankful for...no not for reading my blog, but thankful that God allowed you to be a part of another day. You are breathing...you have LIFE! That's a major reason to be thankful right there!!

So EVERYday and in EVERY situation always be thankful. Also, be mindful to verbally thank those around you for what ever they have done for you. No matter how small or large, tell them thank you. It'll do your heart good:)

Now, I have a card to share:

I did created these quick and simple cards to send as invites for Thanksgiving dinner this year. I'm not hosting a huge crowd this year, but I always create some sort of card and goodies to give. I just really like to create items for the fall and I usually always do it for Thanksgiving. That way, I've created a little something to share with others.

For these cards I used PTI's Ripe Avocado and Fine Linen cardstock. If I've not told yall before, Papertrey Ink's cardstock is THE BEST cardstock ever. The weight, the color...just awesome. I've found that I can not get myself to create a card with any other cardstock base other than PTI, the weight is perfect. Anyway, I stitched the glassine paper and pattern paper (MME Front Porch Collection) to the Avocado cardstock. Added jute threaded buttons, ribbon to the die cut (cricut) and finally used up the last of the wooden craft leafs I've had for a while...whew! I loved those leafs, but I was seriously tired seeing them...they had to be used before 2012:)

I used an invitation stamp by Stampendous for the inside...quick and simple. I can't wait to get started on the simple table decor for the day. This year I'm not planning ahead for table decor, I'm going to simply go to the store and use what I find. Also, this will be the very first year I use paper goods instead of dinnerware...and this my friend is a "Good Thing" ^_^

Thinking of You

Thinking of you...these are cards you just can't get enough of making and sending. It's just the perfect little note to let someone know that they have been on your mind.

I'm so in love with this owl ribbon, I've had it possibly an entire year. When I found this little owl stamp, I knew then it was time for me to put it to good use. The ribbon is a soft twill with various images of owls on it... too cute right? And the purple wooden button is too lovely. I purchased a package of basic and these purple wooden buttons from Michaels for $0.99, so rest asure you will see more of these buttons very soon.

The inked heart shaped doillie in purple and vintage linen inks, I really like the combination of the two colors. I'm still trying my hand at gaining the right color mixture on doillies. I'm currently experimenting on other simple tricks with the doillies. I'll be sure to share the techniques I'm trying with you here later.

This card is for a upcoming retirement and it was created by using all scraps.

I've been trying to do better with having so many scraps remaining. I have this yearly goal set to not start a year with a drawer full of scraps. Last year I had to donate my scraps to others in my monthly scrap group in order to meet that goal. This year is looking fairly good, so I just may not have any to donate this year.

I don't worry too much about plain cardstock scraps, because I know I'll surely use it for something. But too often we grow tired of seeing the same pattern paper scraps and end up never using them. WASTE NOT WANT NOT is what I'm keeping in my head. So with that said, I have plenty of papercrafting to get done before the end of this year...and I'm not complaining about it at all:)

Lucky Pumpkins

Hi yall!! I guess you all can tell I completely stopped participating in the 30 Days of Blogging...B.O.R.I.N.G. and redundant to say the least. It had gotten to be more of a chore than fun by day 10 I think, but I kept pushing on. Anyway, I'm way past done with that..it did nothing for me so moving right along.

Now, many that know me KNOW I do not celebrate halloween at all. But I'm not shallow to of some of the scrappy goodness that goes on sale after that day. Hence the fact I purchased this chipboard pumpkin set. Got it from Joann's last year on sale for $0.97, so I couldn't pass it up. My intentions were to create some fall inspired cards, but ended up using one of the halloween sayings on this card anyway.

I really like it though, just don't have a use for it:) And I love working with the glassine paper, it's just a tricky booger to adhere. You must use a liquid adhesive instead of your ATG gun, I used my Zip Dry liquid adhesive. Although Zip Dry does exactly what it says when you're using it to adhere paper items (so move very quickly or it will be dry before you know it), it does not dry that fast when using it on glassine paper. So be careful not to disturb it much after you've placed it, so that it'll dry right where you want it.

For this card, I also used my personal ticket punch and adhered two tickets together to give the effect of untorn tickets. I also distressed the edges to give them a more rustic look.

I actually thought I had a pumpkin stamp, but failed to locate it...maybe I dreamed it or possibly shared it with someone. Don't you hate when you think you have an item and turns out you don't, especially when you have envisioned using it. Either way, I really need to get one. Same thing with me thinking I had some mini leaf stamps, I know that I know I own some mini leaf stamps..oh well

These are just a few cards I created at my latest all day crop. Hope these pumpkin fall cards have inspired you. Until my next post...

YES!!! This child picked Aaron up threw him up in the air and caught him. Don and I both nearly fainted the FIRST time he did it..yes this was the second. I wish yall could have seen the look on Aaron face, sorry I was only able to catch the side view because of where we were standing.

And YES...LOL!! I realize the question was "A" picture of something that makes me happy...well I'm a rebel, didn't I already tell you that:)

All of these pictures make me happy, the fact that my kids are happy and they love each other dearly...That makes me happy.

Now, this is one time I didn't mind finding pictures to share ^_^

Day 20--Susan G Komen's Race for the Cure

Day 20: Someone you see yourself marrying/being with in the future

Ummm It's a bit too late to answer this question. Like almost 14 years too late...moving right along:)

Last Saturday I participated in the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. I've participated in this for a few years in various capacities, but last year I joined the 5k race...well walk. This is a foundation that is very close to my heart. I lost my MIL due to breast cancer and my mom is actually a survivor of breast cancer.

Earlier this year I had a scare, a mass was found when I went for my regular exam, but I thank God that after many test it is not cancerous and does not stand the chance of becoming cancerous. I suggest to EVERYONE reading this, please perform regular breast exams, tell your friends and have them tell a friend to do the same. Early detection is key! This is something that I can not stress enough to ALL females AND males too whether you know it or not. Be aware of any changes, be sure to visit your doctor yearly...there's NO excuse for you not to.

About the race: This picture does not show the true numbers at all. It's such a wonderful feeling to see so many people out supporting such a worthy cause. And even the day after the race they were still receiving major donations..such a blessing!

My mom...my best friend..my love..my survivor

This fire truck "Cindy" is dedicated to the cause. I don't remember the exact info on this, but I think Cindy is the name of the spouse of the fireman that owns this truck. There were so many thankful comments and signatures on the truck, to read some of them just melts your heart.

There is always plenty fun for the kiddies also..

This was hilarious!! I thought this child was going to peel right back off. LMBO!!

Then there were food samples. Zea Rotissere was the only sample I tried..mainly because the lines were out of this CITY! But I must say it was all I needed to sample.

OH.MY.GOSH!!! This was De-Lish.com! I mean this was about the best thing ever. Like a man standing next to us screamed and we all were initially scared to taste it, then he yelled this is UH-MAZING! I've never been to Zea, but we've seen it and never thought to stop..wellll need I say more;)

All in all we all had a great time supporting such a wonderful organization that helps soooo many battling that devil called cancer. I pray that as long as I have breath in my body and am able to place one leg in front of the other, I will continue to be a supporter. Not just financially, but physically.

Again, ladies and gentlemen...PLEASE I'm begging you PLEASE visit your doctor every year. Perform annual breast exams, and pass the word to others.

The Grill Master and Day 19

This is about the HARDEST working grill maker ever. Everyday as soon as the hubster got off work he began working on "his" grill. Mind you we already have 2 huge grills. However, this grill will be his traveling grill as it's being mounted on one of those pull trailer thinggies (I know that's not a real word, but I can't think of the name of the thing with four wheels and tail lights) LOL

Anyway, he's been workin on finishing this grill because he has to make Aaron his own little grill. Aaron asked for one for his birthday, so I guess we'll just call it a gift delayed (he doesn't know he's getting one).

Don actually said that after he finish Aaron's grill, he was no longer going to make grills. It's almost sad, but I'm beginning not to believe it, because he enjoys making them. Plus I think he want to build Karohn one once he has his own home.

Don loves to grill just as much as he loves to build the grills. As for me..I only prepare the meat and veggies for the grill. I.don't.play.with.fire:)

Aaron shares the same love of grilling as his dad. I must say it's wonderful having the men of the house cook for you.

I'm just waiting to have our first tailgate. I'm pretty sure the first one will take place in our own back yard when it get cool. We often roast hotdogs and make smores outback when the weather first began to get cool, just a little something we do just to spend a little quality time together at home.

I can't wait!

Day 19 - Nicknames you have; why do you have them

I have only one nickname...well two. To this day I dunno why I have it because my name is already so short. Anyway, Ki is one my nicknames. Someone formally close to me gave me that name. Although, he and I are no longer close I still heart him and the name. Moving on..mainly, blogger friends call me that and a select few inner circle friends, but I perfer Kisha:)

Now my second but first given nickname is momma...Don was the one that started this. I have NO CLUE why he started calling me that. One thing I do know is, if he calls me Kisha, for sure he's mad or something serious has happened. I've not heard him call my real name in a while..hmmm wonder if he remember my real name ^_^

Happy Birthday + Day 18

I've been working pretty hard on creating items for submission. Hence my cluttered desk, and actually that's clean compared to how it looked before I got started.

One of the items I needed plenty of was birthday cards, seems I can't create enough of these. So to help combat this issue, I've decided to create two of every card. That way I'll have a card for backup. *Now the two cards shown below are not cards created for submission these are just some I needed*

Aren't these the cutest little dimensional birds..and the pattern paper was a perfect fit for it I think. I even added a little Distress Stickles on the floral part of the sticker for added dimension.

See the dimension of the stickers? There are actually three layers. Love that! This is the only way I use "stickers", other than that they serve no purpose and are not pretty, unless they are layered.

And the best thing about these stickers, I got them on clearance from Target for about 2bucks. *Guess you can tell I ONLY shop Target's clearance sections*

Just lovely if I have to say so myself:)

Day 18 - Plans/dreams/goals you have

Plans: To vacation in Hawaii for an entire week also to take a special 7 day cruise. *There is another plan I have but I'm not willing to share it with everyone. I've told my husband only..well after I prayed about it and we both realize it will be a blessing to many. I just don't feel that something like this should be spoken among many, it should just be done. But I'm very excited about this plan, more so than the Hawaii vacation we're planning. I pray that God continue to bless us in order for this to work as a blessing to others.

Dreams: Hmmm...I would have to say to become a great seamstress. I would love to sew clothes like Erica Bunker To sew with perfection, where my items would look good on the inside as well as out and have the durability to last.

Goals: Simply put..to gain financial freedom. Yes, I know that almost no one will ever be totally financial free. However, I don't have to live financially bound by unnecessary bills. That's my major goal. My secondary goal is to RUN a 5k...I know I can achieve this and I will complete it. I pray to have completed my goals by December 2011 and October 2012, respectfully.

Day 17 - Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why

This is a really hard question..geesh. To switch lives with someone, who's shoes would I want to walk in for one day...hmmmm.

*It's been 6 days and I'm still trying to figure out who I would want to switch lives with for a day* LOL! Lemme think some more.

Ok..it's time to now end this LOL! I initially thought of a couple of celebrities, but then I quickly thought of their issues that would possibly come along with that day...I'll pass:) I even thought of Oprah, like how would it feel to be her for a day (Although I really don't care for her and has never followed her show). I also thought of Martha Stewart...she's still out of jail right?

Well, eventually I came down to not one but two people...what?! Rules are meant to be bent, so long as I'm not breaking them.

My first choice is Karohn. I would LOVEEEEE to walk in his shoes for a day. He's currently a resident of Guam. I would love to spend a day in Guam ( a day at liberty NOT duty to be specific). It's beautiful over there, I would take the day by storm and make it worth my trade:)

My second FIRST choice is The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond O.M.G. You talk about taking the day by storm!!! I would be running in circles leaving dust storms on that ranch. LOL! I'm all excited just thinking about the things I would get to be involved with during my 24 hour walk in her shoes. Gosh! I would have to go on a 48 hours fast before I go to the ranch...can you imagine the cooking that would take place there...whewwwww!! Imagine the stuff I would get to learn and the life long experience of it all.

*calming down now*

Ok, those are my two best choices. I would do both in a heartbeat....although Lisa was a runner up to them both...let me stop:)

Day 13 - A letter to someone who has hurt you recently

Honestly, I can't think of one person I would need to write a letter too that has hurt me, especially to say RECENTLY. First of all, I'm so beyond "allowing" someone to hurt me, that I can truly say that I've not been hurt by anyone recently.

Have I suffered hurt in the past...heck yea! Family has all the bases covered on that, and plenty homeruns to follow. LOL

Over time, you learn and you grow. No one can step into that realm of "hurt" with me anymore..I won't allow it. Furthermore, you can't put your heart and soul in man, they'll let you down everytime. Stop expecting more where less is (if that makes sense).

The only people that can possibly hurt me are my parents and kids. Now, I may be very wrong, and I could be inviting a test to come upon me, but right now as I type this runon sentence - I can truly say that no man can do a thing to hurt me.

I've sinned in my life and I've repented for it all. I've prayed that my slate (passed sins) have been cleared, that neither of my kids nor myself have to endure punishment (reaping) of my past failures to comply with God's holy commands. In saying that, I say again there is no room in my life to allow some human to hurt me with their silly actions. People will be people, we may not like what they do, but don't let what someone else does get next to you in that manner ESPECIALLY people that do not matter (ie: friends, associates, etc).

I'm not tough by no means, just stronger in Christ.

Day 12: How you found out about Blogger and why you made one

I don't quite remember how I found out about blogger. I don't know if it came from reading someone's blog via getting their info from a magazine, or something from the newspaper..no clue what so ever. I wanna say, it was probably from reading papercrafting magazines..not sure. And I imagine I started one because I thought it would be fun to share my love for crafts with others.

**Can you tell I'm slightly loosing interest in this 30 days of blogging challenge. Maybe if every other question wasn't "Another picture of yourself" I would be all Woot Woot...right now I'm just at one Woot^_^

Ok, lessee (country for let's see:) what else I can share right now...hmmmm

I'm currently working on some paper crafts to be published..possibly...if they like it:)

Along with the fall home decor, I have to get started on doing the Christmas floral for my brother and MIL that'll be placed on their plot for the candle lighting ceremony at we attend each year (they are both deceased)

I really need to get a jump on these towels...need to make time

I also have some pillows to create and another blanket...Lord give me the energy and time

All of this plus more I need to get done ALONG with my laundry list of home duties

I want to add a picture of something (imagine that and I just mooed about this challenge asking about pictures - LOL)

Seems like I've over scheduled all of my weekends for the last three months of this year - WOW!! I think the same thing happened last year also.

I have yet to began a search for a holiday dress...boo

Day 10: Songs you listen to when you are Happy, Sad, Bored, Hyped, Mad

This question is funny..or maybe it's just me. Well, I listen to music in general, I don't have particular songs I listen to for various moods. I listen to music because it's soothing...well at least the music I listen to is soothing, I've never enjoyed the bippity boppity type music, especially the lyrics. ECK! I don't have favorite artist..umm..well I just lied. LOL I do favor Smokie Norful, Kem, Kenny Williams (local/classmate) and Earl Klugh. But I listen to most all genre...except rap UGH!! I don't even like gospel rap.

All in all I listen to music because I love it, and I listen to it when ever.

NOW..let me go listen to some smooth jazz:)

These are the sweetest stickers...YES stickers! I can't believe I purchased them either, but they're so cute and dimensional. I found these on clearance in Target (I only shop the clearance isles in Target:).

For this card I layered two of the stickers and I love the result.

Everytime I look at this stamp I love it more and more. I'm actually going to purchase another one for back up, I love it that much..so whimsical.

This ribbon was so cute..I say was because it's all gone. The saying was pre-stamped on it. I think I got this ribbon from Kim last year. I think I'm going to try using my own stamps on some twill ribbon I have. This should be great!

Day 9: Something you're proud of in the past few days

One of the things I'm proud of...

PATIENCE: Capacity for waiting -The ability to endure waiting, delay, or provocation without becoming annoyed or upset, or to persevere calmly when faced with difficulties.

Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

The past few days/weeks I've been most proud of the changes I've seen in myself...my patience/tolerance for people and the things they do is growing. I must honestly say, the verse from 1 Thessalonians made me just go UGH!!! WHY!!! Do I really have to be patient with EVERYONE?? REALLY?? God said YES...I'm patient with you. At that moment there was more calmness within.

I've never been one that was quick to anger, it took A LOT to anger me and then the only way you'd know I was angry is because my feelings show through my body language/face (as I've been told). I'm by no means phony, never have been, never will be, so it's hard for me to hide my feelings from people. But as I've gotten older, my tolerance for foolishness and busybodies had become slim to NONE. Like, I'll just walk off from ignorance or just disengage myself from the conversation. I often "just didn't feel like" being the one to correct the mess someone may have been spewing to the crowd, basically just thinking, they'll never change..so I'd just move on. But how can I say I walk in love but I have no patience for mankind? Now, don't get me wrong, I will dismiss mess in a heartbeat especially when it's intentional hurt someone is trying to invoke. I've had a person get upset with me because when I realized she was trying to speak ill of someone (mess) I very politely told her I didn't want to hear it. She was angry true, but I did give her the benefit of the doubt and explained myself..I don't want to hear mess PERIOD. Your ears and eyes are a funnel to your heart, if you take in enough of that mess you WILL become it. Which in turn, you will begin to speak it and become it..."Birds of a feather"

Now that's just one senerio of "stuff" I've not had the patience for. Life presents many instances where your patience may be tried. I'm just so very happy that I've noticed that my patience/tolerance for "stuff" is growing. I don't feel my heart racing when I'm encountered by "stuff". I don't get that UGHHH feeling when I'm encounted by "stuff"and become disconnected.

I'm so happy with my growth and I pray that I continue on this path of becoming a better me.

Where's My Sewing Mojo?? + Day 8

Somebody ANYbody please if you find my will to sew can you please send it back to me! I have some patterns and fabric I cut out months ago, that have yet to be touched since cutting them out. I think about these items almost daily, but have no mojo to begin on them. Although I have a dress I know I will be completing (for the second time) really soon, and I know I'll be sewing it because I need it for church. Other than that, I wouldn't be sewing at all.

I also have a crossover bag I'm going to complete. I'm praying it comes out how I vision it, especially being I don't have a pattern for it. I do though think what I will do to get my "sewing groove" back is complete the dress for church and my blouse, both of which I've sewn before. Hope that will help me get back to putting my foot to the petal..for items other than papercrafting:)

Day 8: Short term goals for this month and why

Funny how this is the question for today and I just finished begging for my mojo back...thing is sewing really wasn't on my October month goal sheet. Well other than my crossover bag..anyway here goes.

Finish "Project Purge our Home" by the 28th of this month. We've been on this project for some months now and have made quiet a bit of progress. We now only have two closets and the guest bedroom (which turned into the piling station for things we couldn't find a good place for and all the donation bags).

Pay off these last three bills "Thank You Jesus" and start saving the extra amount we agreed on.

Begin our home interior/exterior painting projects. And make a final decision on our bedroom and guest bedroom.

Make the final plans for our trip next year and final decisions on our 2013 trip

Create our goal list for the month of November. I usually do them along with our monthly budget, but being that I've completed the budget for the rest of this year I didn't set our goals for November and December.

Purge my file cabinet (now I weep)

Purge my work email folders/archived folders/physical folders (weeps again)

Complete at least two more online courses (work related)

and final..finish up some papercrafting gifts I have, sew my crossover bag and reorganize my studio (I think I'm getting a new room which means moving a large/heavy table from one room to another - we'll see)

This month's goals/to do list is pretty short, as my list get shorter and shorter by the year end. Mainly because we're coasting on closing out a year, so you try to complete everything that wasn't totally completed in prior months. We usually set goals every year at the beginning of the year, then those goals get broken down into months. That way we start pretty much on target, and by the year end, we've completed at least 95% of our goals.

Although, I had a busy day on Oct 1 I was still able to participate by creating a few cards on World Card Making Day..Woot Woot!! I hope you were able to get crafty yourself.

I even tried something new YAAY me!! I'd been wanting to try this but for some reason didn't. I don't know what you call it BUT, I wanted either my stamped sentiment or some sort of design to peek thru the card.

I love this bicycle stamp..love it! And of course it's one of my Michael's brand G Studio stamp..cost me one buck!

I have a little minor imperfection in the circle cut, due to the thickness of the layered card stock. But I've learned from this card to cut twice and layer once..LOL

And either a written sentiment or stamped one will go inside...*giggles* So cute!

You will certainly see this type of card created again very soon:)

I selected this picture mainly because I can't wait to go back. I had such a wonderful time in San Antonio, visiting the Alamo, seeing all the history there. Although I no longer have my own personal pictures from my Texas visit (due to a past house fire), I have all the wonderful memories from that trip. And I plan on taking a trip back to Texas very very soon.

Day 4: A habit that you wish you didn't have

Hmmm...I would have to say..I wish I didn't have the habit of speaking the truth to someone when they ask me my opinion/advice. And I've now (actually about 3 weeks ago) decided NOT to have any say at all anymore to ANYONE. I don't care how close we are, my suggestion/opinion/advice is Take It To God. That way if you wanna get mad at the truth you'll be mad at God.

Now, please don't get me wrong. I don't care when people take up their option/right to be mad at me for what I've told them..never have. I ALWAY pray to God that he gives me the right words to say before I speak. But you know..some people don't really want to hear the truth, they want you to agree with them and anyone that truly know me KNOW you will NOT get that from me. So if you wanted to just hold a little pity party, you invited the wrong guest - ME.

I've experienced people get mad and tell me I just don't understand...that's odd being that they were telling me their situation and ASKED me what I think they should do. First of all it's usually all to obvious what they should do but they were just too lazy to take the steps they should to get to where they needed to be in their situation..so I say PRAY. Don't ask someone how to handle a situation if you don't want the truth. Hint: If you ask your "friend" for advice and they sugar coat it or say it's alright and it's not...That's NOT your "friend".

Now, I've never been mean or ugly with a person, and I've never and will never ever EVER tell someone to leave their spouse UNLESS violence plays a roll in the matter. I will NEVER EVER tell a parent to not care for their adult dependant child..nothing like that. But if you ask for advice and I realize underneath you are really wanting me to handle your situation by offering my goods (ie; money, transportation, etc) but you are not doing what you need to do to help yourself...it's not gonna happen.

But yea...I'm done with the advice/opinion/whatchu think (LMBO) stuff. Take your cares and worries to God and he'll supply what you need. And I mean that in the kindest most heartfelt way.

This way, no one will have the opportunity to be angry because you didn't like what I had to say. My advice/opinion is in NO WAY solid, meaning what I think may not work for you. that's when YOU should know what's right for you and follow it. I don't get mad because someone didn't take my advice, that's ignorant. My advice/opinion is just that MINE. I just think it's silly when people get mad, but like I've heard before: The truth hurts. So that's why I say, it is better for one to take your cares to the Lord and he will supply.

Day 2: The meaning behind your Blogger name

I actually struggled a bit with naming my blog, then I decided to changed the name to focus more on my main hobby/love. Then I also realized if anyone were to be interested in reading my blog, it would be easier for them to remember the name if it made more sense to them.

Well anyway, I'm going to give you the meaning of both my blog link name and the title of my page (although it can be found by using either one of those names).

Kisewfab:

Ki - a nickname I was given, short for Kisha (although my name is already short)

Sew - came from my learning or trying to learn to sew

Fab - Life is fabulous

Creating Memories on Paper: I came up with this title basically because that's what I do. I'm "re"creating memories on paper for my family to enjoy for years to come.

I can only imagine the joy my scrapbooks will bring my children in their adult life and the laughter and joy it'll bring their children and so on. I think memories should continue to be formatted on paper and preserved far beyond our kids baby books or primary school years. We're in a steady motion of creating memories of some sort on a daily basis, so why not recreate them on paper to remember and enjoy for years to come.

Today is the day 1 of my 30 days of blogging challenge. The daily questions for the challenge was sent to me by a fellow blogger, I guess we'll all see how far I take this challenge:)

So here we go...

Day 1: A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is the most current picture I've taken. It's a picture of me showing/helping my niece make her first handmade card.

I've been sporting natural hair for a year and 6 months this month

I do not believe in and don't celebrate Halloween, but I have when I was a kid

I like things neat and in order at all times...but my family fight against me on that:)

I once aspired to own my own full service beauty salon

I love all things outdoors. I take to heart the beauty of nature..it's very calming

This will be my first year taking a hunting trip with the hubster

I love to fish...but I can't eat the fish I catch on the same day (a bit too gruesome)

I used to OVERLY love jewerly,clothes, handbags, shoes and makeup till we lost everything in a fire. The fire helped me put my shopping habits in perpective. Everyone that knew me was amazed how I wasn't all in tears and huffing over "stuff"...including myself. *I serve a good God*

Almost all of my life, I've longed for my brother's and I to be accepted by "a side" of our family. Till this day it has not happened. The good thing about it is, I've grown to learn it wasn't us they didn't like, they aren't happy with themselves.

My hair was once colored blonde...it was fun:)

I'm a bit of a stickler for getting things right. I'm by NO MEANS perfect, never profess to be and never will be. I just like for things/events/etc that I put my hands on to be the best I can have it to be.

There are times that I can be very selfish, and when I am there's no question about it, because I will tell you up front that I'm feeling a bit selfish and don't want to share...

My husband and I wed on Valentine's Day...That's also my late granny birthday

I would LOVE to one day go snorkling...first I need swim lessons (that's coming soon)

I've often meditated on speaking to groups of young girls on domestic violence and dating

Sloppy "Don's"

My husband loves that manwich stuff..L.O.V.E.S it. Me and the kids on the other hand, not so much. But in an effort to make a not so good to us, quick meal taste better, I always strive to make it homemade and just maybe it'll taste better. It also doesn't help that I always forget to purchase items as such..LOL

Anyway, last week I was in need of a quick meal before we headed off to a local highschool football game. As my football mom years are over..so are the awful, greasy quick meals we used to take in at these games. That's when I remembered, he just asked me again about making him a sloppy joe...

Ingredients used:

Ground Beef

Hot Italian Sausage (removed from the casing)

Red Pepper Flakes (I go a little heavy on this)

Seasoning All

Cracked Black Pepper

Garlic Powder

Sazzon

Herbs de Provence

Bellpepper

Onion

Canned Diced tomato with cilantro

Canned Tomato Sauce (16oz)

**NOTE: I can not say for certain how much of each I used. You'll just have to use your own cooking judgement and also feel free to add your own ingredients that fit your liking.

Brown the ground beef and Italian Sausage together, Add spices/seasonings. Right before the meat is totally done, drain oil then add diced bellpepper and cook until completely done (Drain all excess oil if there's more).

Then add the rest of the remaining ingredients

Thoroughly stir (keep heat on med/low to simmer) until all ingredients have been combined. Also remember you can add or take away any ingredients you like/dislike.

If you try this recipe, I hope you enjoy...I know Don did.

HAPPY "21st" BIRTHDAY!!!

Karohn is currently stationed in Guam, but is spending his birthday in a different country:) I think that's pretty awesome, although he really wanted to be home. I really do miss him and would have loved for him to be home with us to celebrate his turning 21. But I figure what better way for a young person to spend their birthday by exploring new lands.

I hope he enjoy his stay (in his current location).

Karohn, may God continue to bless you as you continue to do his will. Continue to keep God as the head of your life and in everything you do...by doing this you will remain rich in his blessings.

Back to School

Schools back in WOOOHOOOOO!!!!

I'm way too excited about this school year AND already planning for next summer. I'm happy this will be Aaron's last year at his current school and I'm praying that the next school we plan on sending him to (where he will also graduate high school) will be great.

Now although I've been released from the "sending goodies to class" duties I still had to create something for a very special teacher of Aaron's. His first grade teacher Mrs. Jones was THE GREATEST teacher ever and every year he has to give her something. I don't know if he'll ask me to make her something every year after he has gone on to jr high and high school, but as long as he request it I will create and send it. She's a pretty awesome teacher.

This pencil vase is a craft-lifted from Sarah's blog. It's such an easy and quick gift idea for teachers.

For my pencil vase, I chose to create floral pens for her to use instead of live flowers. That way she has something she can use daily, plus I wasn't sure of any allergies she may have.

**Note: While creating this pencil vase be sure to keep your vase level that way your pencils aren't eventually laid/glued at an angle which will cause you to lose the proper section space..see picture below

You can see where my leveling went a little bit off (back of the vase). But once the flower pens were inserted you can't see the error.

Up next, I wanted to create a LO and/or card using wooden letters. And being that I've not order any or gotten the opportunity to go to my favorite scrapbooking store in Georgia, I decided to purchase some by Plaid from Walmart.

Appears to be nice and thick right...

Ok the deal was to test the letters out with acrylic paint and my Tattered Angels spray mist...

Well, as you see the spray mist didn't do a good job and the wood even began to fray...go figure. And as for the paint, I just didn't like the look of it. So here's a tip: Only use wooden embellishments from Pink Paislee..LOL!!

Again, I'm still creating LO's with out pictures. I've truly amazed myself with this, being that I am creating a space for a specific size and shape picture that will be taken in the near future. I'm actually loving creating pictureless pages.

The purpose of these pictureless pages if to have ready made pages for Aaron's 6th grade year. I love this LO!

Sweets For My Sweets

Just a few cards...

I created this card and two other cards (below) for an apple Ipod card making app a few months back. This card so happen to also be Aaron's birthday card and may I add he LOVED it. He even asked me to keep it and give it to him again next year for his 13th birthday...*sigh* I can't believe my baby will be 13 next year.

I love the stars on this card. It's hard to see the distressing on each star and the sentiment, but I used my Tim Holtz paper distresser on the edges.

And for the final card, I used some left over muslin (fabric) and distressed it a bit (that idea is from Ashley Newell not my own). This card is a very very basic and simple card and I love it.

Now on to the sweets...

Key Lime Pie

My mom LOVES key lime pie, so of course I had to make her one...right

This is the pie before Aaron added the cool whip. Usually when I bake, I make my own whip cream, but this time I just had the hubster (my hero nickname for my husband) to pick up a can of whip cream. It's so easy to make your own whip cream, all you need is some heavy whipping cream and about 1/4 c of sugar. Using a blender, beat till it becomes thick and there you have it.

Recipe:

Ingredients
Crust
18 whole Graham Crackers (the 4-section Large Pieces)
⅓ cups Sugar **
⅓ cups Butter, Melted

Filling
1 Tablespoon (heaping) Lime Zest
½ cups Lime Juice
2 whole Egg Yolks
1 can (14 Oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk

** I did not use the 1/3 c of sugar for the crust as I feel that graham crackers are sweet enough without it.

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
For the crust: Crush crackers in a food processor or Ziploc bag. Pour them into a bowl and stir in sugar and melted butter. Press into a pie pan and bake for 5 minutes or until golden and set.

Remove from oven and set aside to cool slightly.

For the filling: Mix lime zest, lime juice, and egg yolks in a mixing bowl. Add in condensed milk and mix on high until smooth and thick. Pour mixture into crust and bake for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, allow to cool, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour—more if possible.

Serve with sweetened whipped cream and more grated lime zest

What Has Taken My Attention Lately...

This book...well ANY book by Kimberla Lawson Roby. She has a new novel that will be released on September 6 so I've gotta finish this one before the one I put on hold is ready...*NOTE: There are 379 Holds on this book and I'm number 380..yea* I don't read a lot of fiction, but I do enjoy most. I also love Sue Grafton (I may have butchered her last name) books, but for some reason I'd rather listen to them on tape/CD. I blame that on my years of working at the post office tho.

Next on my list to read is Kimberla's next book Secret Obsession and The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Now I just need to find more time for pleasure reading.

And this little school boy that's securely holding on to his bottled tornado. He is so into science, reading anything Goose Bumps and Diary of a Wimpy Kid and skateboarding. If he could study science and complete science projects all day every day he'd be a majorly happy kid.

Between work, home, family/friends, crafts/hobby there's not much time left in the day...but there's always those wee hours of the morning:)

Card Swap

I here recently participated in a card swap with three other wonderful paper crafters. This was just what I needed to get my mojo back. Thanks to Scrappin Posse I got my crafting energy back.

I love the buttons I used on this card so much that I've been trying to go slow in using the rest of them. I purchased these (I think from Archivers) last year so I feel I've done well to have them this long.

Overnight Crop Part 2

I sooo enjoyed my overnight crop, to the point that I can't wait till next year's overnight crop. I plan on being there as soon as Gail unlocks the door and not leaving till 2pm the next day:) Although, my monthly crop is coming up very soon, the overnight crop was awesome.

During the crop I decided to try something new..a double LO.

I must admit this is not as easy as it seems. This LO is just ok to me, I'm not terribly unpleased with it but I don't feel that "umph" about it, if you know what I mean.

I haven't journaled on my LO's yet. I usually don't attempt to journal while out on a crop, if anything, I will write some notes in my notebook for the LO. But I'd rather journal at home. So, to add a little info to the "unhappy birthday" LO: This party was for Aaron's 10th birthday, it was held at our local skate center. He was so excited about having his party (as he always is) but about 30 minutes into it he turned in his skates and said he wasn't feeling well. I figured he was upset because his guest were not pouring in as usual plus it began to rain really bad. But when he began to cry I thought, he must really be sick. But later on (as you can see with the cake picture) he cheered up...for all of 5 minutes. If you knew Aaron, you would know this is not like him. He makes the best out of ANY situation and he is ALWAYS happy...even when he's not happy with a situation - SERIOUSLY. We ended up having to leave early and I picked up some allergy meds and soup for him. He continued to get worse. After sitting in the emergency room and then visiting his Dr. it was discovered he had Swine Flu. I felt so bad for my baby. He had a rough week, but he pulled through thank God.

Ok..back to the LO's lol

I love the cardstock embellishments from my Pink Paislee Daily Junque:)

This is LO # 4...I was on a roll yall. Just imagine if I'd gotten there earlier than I did.

Last but certainly not least. Gail owns a Cricut create or imagine..can't remember the exact name. BUT, now I want one. This pattern paper was printed from her cricut. I love this thing...although I'm not in love with my basic cricut I will be soon I hope:)

I really hate to cut it because it's so darn cute! And just think, I may be soon able to create my very own pattern paper *exciting*. I've been challenged by my scrapping buddies to dust off my cricut and use it more so I can fall in love with it. I was told I don't like it because I don't use it. But I'm thinking about purchasing the new cartridge from CTMH and I really think that will do the trick for me. We will see...until next time.

Over Night Crop

My first LO of the day/night. I've been here since about 3 and this is all I've completed and I think I'm the only one in my square (there are five of us sitting in a square formation) that's actually completed a LO. We've been talking, laughing and eating of course..more on that in a sec. This LO is for Aaron's first day of school...Sixth grade here he comes:) He's rather excited about it and I'm happy.

I've been wanting to stamp on a LO for a while, and when I tried it...it acted rather wonky. I wanted the No 1 to be stamped in a chalky white and it just vanished on the paper. So my walnut distressed ink had to work. I added a little glimmer to it for a little umph. LOL

I'm love the Crate Paper "School Spirit Collection" Grade card paper. I've been stretching it, trying to make it last.

Most of the products used on this LO is Pink Paislee's Daily Junque (house of three). The journaling sheet is Making Memories spiral journaling book the Just Chillin' Boy collection.

Now on to the food...rather this one particular cupcake:)

This cupcake was THE.SINGLE.MOST.GREATEST.CUPCAKE.EVER.com whew!! The icing was just simply perfect, not too sweet and tasted just like that lime sherbert icecream..just yummo.

And may I add they are ALL gone:(

Ok, back to my scrap happy work. I'll be back in a few, hopefully with a couple of cards and LO's. That's if I don't fall asleep first.

I Scrapped!!

See what can happen when you begin to pack for a crop:) I actually scrapped three simple LO's. I went into my studio only to pack for my overnight crop and I ended up creating not one BUT three LO's.

Returning Very Soon

I think it's been about a month since I've sewn or crafted anything. Today, I actually purchased a sheet of craft paper, buttons and some note cards in hopes of boosting my creative mojo. I've not had the desire to create anything AT ALL. I'm so behind on my creative goals, I had intentions of sewing 2 dresses, being finished with my Thanksgiving invites and partically finished with my Christmas cards and I have a special mini scrapbook I have to get in the mail really soon.

These past few weeks, I've experienced the most joyous, happy, tearful, sad and hard learned lessons ever. Through it all, I'm still thankful and still give God the glory and praise.

On June 6th (Don's birthday), our young Navy man returned home on military leave. We all were so excited to have him home. We fooled Aaron and my parents with the day he was coming home. When we picked him up from the airport we went directly to my parents house and Karohn rang the door bell...need I say they were wondering who was dropping by their home after 10pm, but they were pleasantly surprised.

This picture tells the story. See the look in Aaron's eye's, he was soooo happy to see Karohn. It made all of our day to see his reaction. They hugged for what seemed like 30 minutes.

Karohn is such a hard and dedicated worker, he started working at the recruiting office the day after his return, which was smart. He worked 5 days of his 17 days here, that way he gained back 5 vacation days all by working only a couple hours each day. We all got to spend quality time with him in between him hanging out with his friends and visiting others. And Aaron was just in "spoiled by my brother" heaven:) The two of them hung out daily like two teens and Aaron has been blessed with many gifts from his brother. Although the days seem to speed by that first week...it slowed up to a screeching halt Sunday the 11th. I woke up that morning to begin my Sunday as usual when I received a call that a friend of mine had taken his own life..shock and disbelief filled my mind. I just couldn't believe it, but a part of me stopped, like I was trying to resuscitate my own heart. I decided to hold on to my faith in God and believe that he was not dead, that it all was a huge lie...a ugly rumor at best because this is not something he would do..NOT him.

That was about 7:50 am. By 8:30/9am (yes I stopped preparing for Church) everyone was calling me back to back, asking questions and unbelievably already spreading horrible rumors..then I received a confirmation call from one of my team leaders...I literally lost it! There was NO WAY he'd ever do this to himself. He had just been to see me on Thursday...he seemed fine..not his normal way but fine so how could this be true.

Yet again...another bit of me die

I prayed for his soul. You see I don't think it's ever too late to pray for a person, and I know God is a forgiving God. As the Lord knew the day he would enter this world, he also knew the day and the way he would exit. This was hard pill to swallow, but he will forever live in our hearts.

Earth has no sorrows that Heaven can not heal.

Well, Karohn departed Birmingham headed for Guam Thursday morning and arrived safetly Friday @ 1:30 am cst which was Saturday about 4:30 pm UTC.

When I spoke with him, he couldn't even speak on the beauty of Guam, he had to just sum it all up as "Momma it's AWESOME". I'm so happy that he's gaining the experience of traveling/residing in a country far beyond where we would have ever thought to travel (being that a round trip flight estimates $2,300 per person).

I can't wait to start receiving pictures of his adventures while he's stationed there. Which reminds me I need to keep an eye out for sales on scrapbooks and photo albums, so I can preserve his memories during his Naval career.

We're all going to miss Karohn while he's on duty in Guam, it's going to be odd not being able to see him for 4 years. But who knows, mil leave may be in his future before his next duty station. I pray for him a blessed and safe journey. And I'm so happy that he continues to attend church services when he's not home and I pray that he can continue to do the same in Guam. Me and Karohn both were very happy to learn that the church we attend mail free CD's of each Sunday service to military troops. So even if he can not attend church or is not able to watch online, he will have CD's to keep his spirit fed.

So, the next time you see me here again I promise to have a creative update. In the meantime, live every minute, hour and day as the blessing that it is. Be thankful for all and leave your worries behind..better yet no worries, give it all to God.

Twisted Sketch #61 - Final Sketch

Welcome to the weekend my fellow crafty bloggers! I've been looking forward to this fully loaded weekend for some time now.

As you all know my term is up as a designer for Twisted Sketches. So this card represents my last sketch challenge design for the Twisted Sketches blog. It was my pleasure to serve as a design team for TS *screams* I was a TWISTED SISTER!!

As I've stated before, I have other cards that have been created for an Apple Ipad/Ipod sketches app. I will share those cards with you as soon as I can, I think the app is scheduled to release this summer and another come fall. For more app information please check the Sketches2scrapbook blog.

Now on to my "lovely" card

This card was my test of the use of fabric. I've been wanting to incorporate fabric to a card or LO in a different kind of way, but just didn't know how I would accomplish it. Well here ya have it..I decided to use a printed cotton fabric to create the flowers. First, I stamped the floral image and cut, then used PTI cardstock as a stiffiner for the fabric. For an added touch, I added a little shimmer to the center of the flower.

I'm really pleased with the outcome of the flower and I'm currently working on more stamped fabric flower's.

Welcome Little One - Twisted Sketch #60

For the Love of Thrifting

Do you thrift shop? Me? I lovvvvvve to thrift, I think it's the thrill of the hunt of the goodies I'll find. See the jacket I have on in the above pic? Mmhmm, BCBG rabbit fur cropped jacket, I scored it from MY FAV thrift store for $9.88. I've also purchased items like a yellow silk blend twin set (NOT to be worn together..hate twin sets). This is the softest cardigan in town:). I've purchased very nice jeans for no more than $4bucks. An Old Navy chocolate cardi with bling buttons for $2, and the list goes on and on.

Have I always enjoyed thrifting...NO noooo no no no no! *Laughing hard* Seriously, my mom can tell you, thrift stores used to make me itch and I would actually break out. I hated thrift stores, my thought on thrifting was "if the original owner didn't want it why should you". But, one day while I was out doing my usual Saturday shopping (ode to the single days with little to no responsibilities), I decided to stop by the America's Thrift Store in Centerpoint. OMGosh! I nearly lost my mind. I was purchasing items for my then little one, me and my mom for pennies on the dollar.

Fast forward...years later, I found myself running every Friday to the newspaper box outside of my building to grab a newspaper so I could map out my early Saturday morning yard and estate sales. I remember my very first estate sale, I ventured off with my two kiddo's in the car to a sale in Hoover..an area I figured if the property owner purchased a $350K home then for sure I can't afford the price tag on their stuff. Boy was I ever wrong! There were some nice items, don't get me wrong..but the living room furniture looked like something from..umm..The Walton's maybe and I'm NOT talking about my house. The sofa's didn't match ANYTHING..and one of the sofa's had ducks on it..DUCKS! No seriously, I "ducked" up stairs to see what was for sale there. There was a closet full of of beautiful pieces..that were a whole size 4. Beautiful evening gowns and I think most were only about $20.

All in all, thrifting can really be fun and it's a great way to score items when you are decorating your home. Of course you need to have an eye for items and a vision to refurbish items. And this is totally what I love to do.

So, what are your thoughts on thrifting now? Again I ask, do you thrift or hit yard/estate sales? What are your thoughts on making something old new again?

Balsamic Pork Scaloppini with Tomato-Buttered Noodles

Who love's a new recipe? Let me see you raise you hands..*Aaron's hand is up and so is mine* LOL
Aaron LOVES going into Sam's and especially Publix to sample what they've cooked. If he like it, it will get a thumb up and he'll bring me the recipe card. If he don't like it, he'll just walk with it and find a trash can and won't even bother with the receipe card. This one is one he fell in love with and had to have it the very next day.

This was a very simple recipe to make and most of the ingredients I already had so that part was a breeze.

Balsamic Pork Scaloppini with Tomato-Buttered Noodles

Shopping List:

1lb thin sliced boneless pork chops

1 (40z) container sun-dried tomato finishing butter (I made my own)

1 bunch green onions

1 green bell pepper

1 (1oz) package fresh basil (I thought I still had a sprig of fresh basil..had to use my dried basil)

8 oz medium egg noodles

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (I used the shredded Parm I already had on hand)

1 cup chicken broth

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

1/2 cup diced pimientos

2 tbsp canola oil

1/4 cup flour

3/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Chop the green onions and bell pepper

Preheat saute pan add oil then cook chops on each side, transfer to plate.

Add peppers, pimientos, and onions to pan; cook 3-4 minutes or until soft and lightly browned.

Add vinegar and broth to the pepper mixture; cook about 3 min or until it's reduced by half (wonder who's hand that is stirring the mixture:)

Return the pork to the skillet and cook about 3 more minutes.

Noodles:

Boil pasta to your liking, then drain off the water. Return pasta to the pan and reduce the heat to low, stir in butter, salt and pepper. Toss til butter melts. Stir in basil and top with parmesan cheese then serve.

Now what I did for my pasta sauce was used unsalted butter, melted it a bit, added my dried basil and diced tomato's mixed that up then added it to my pasta. Stirred it till all the butter mixture was evenly distributed.

I had all intentions of baking some refigerated rolls with this meal but, they didn't allow that to happen. They were all over my shoulder waiting on the meal to be ready.

You see Aaron would barely let me take the pic of his plate (notice his hand, ready to snatch his plate).

Taking pictures of food is sorta hard to do and make it look as good as it taste. I'll have to keep working at it, but I'm determined to get it right. But this meal was really good and it is not a heavy meal, I really like that about it. Served with a salad and your family would love you more than the last great meal you prepared:)

If you decide to try this meal, I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did.

The Place Where I Create

The space where I create...I love my space. Even when I don't have the time to create, I must at least walk in and touch my scrap table or some paper. Sometimes I laugh at myself for doing this but I really love being in my own little space. And this is the greatest, most comfortable space for curling up in my leopard print chair and reading a book.

There are a couple of changes that'll take place in my creative space fairly soon. The hubster will build me a closet to hide all my storage boxes in and to store other items. He will also add more much needed shelving to my space and the wall color will also "sadly" change. But the wall color change is very necessary. The current wall color is not cohesive for picture taking AT ALL. We will first try adding more lighting and see if that helps, I really love this "Apricot" (I think it was by Behr)color and would hate to get rid of it.

Sewing table...this was actually my very first craft table. I've had this table almost 12 years now, hence the paint markings seen on the right of the table.

And I really need a new magazine storage system. I know what I want, I just hope my vision works in reality. I want to use a rod mounted on the wall to hang the magazines, and store the overflow of magazines on shelves inside my closet.

**Oh and please don't think I'm a hoarder due to the paper towel holders under the table. They will be used very soon for mini scrapbooks that I'm thinking of making and giving as gifts (on top of Christmas gifts).

I can not get enough of the Tattered Angels mist, this is just one of my favorite things.

Love my blinged out mini stapler! I've loved a little blingage all my life:) I have a pair of sissors to match it. A co-worker purchased it for me as a gift because she know how I love "the bling". OH! I should show yall my blingage Barack t-shirt, I love it but have never worn it. I purchased it some years ago from the Atlanta hair show:)

Ok..on to a card. I created this card for my mom for mother's day. I really like how it turned out and I think I'm going to create another one just to have on hand. Also on the next one, I hope to have purchased some flourish (I'm totally out). I would like to add some vintage pearl flourish to my next card like this.

Aaron also asked me to create "Gamma" a card from him and "don't make it too girlie or with a whole lot of stuff"...

Needless to say, I must have passed the test because he gave her the card I created:) His handwritten sentiment to her was very short but very thoughtful:)

For Aaron's card to her, I let the patterned paper be the focal point and only added lace and sheer ribbon along with the pearls and rose. End result: She loved it and that's all that mattered to him:)

Now, I'll be going on a "NO CARD MAKING" hiatus. If and only if I create a card for at least the next 2 months it'll be due to a need or request to purchase. I have a few unfinished projects I must concentrate on finishing and a LOT of new projects I want to start and complete. I had originally stated that I would start on my Christmas projects in June, I now plan on putting that off until July. I'll only sketch ideas for cards in my lil notebook until that time comes. I will soon (when and if possible) post some completed projects that were previously completed as soon as I'm given word that I can share them online. Other than that, I'm praying to get a LOT of sewing time in for the next month and a half. And I hope the hubster would have found time to fit my studio into his busy construction schedule and have it completed before or by July:)

Although I know I don't have enough time in the day or night to complete it all, I'm going to have fun doing my best to get it all fitted in.

Well, I know I've not posted my DT work in a month of Sunday's, so what better time than the present to get back to showing my work. The Tale of Two Birds

The inspiration:
I spotted this cute little bird at Hobby Lobby a while back and loved it. Thing is, it cost $15 bucks! Not a bargain nor a steal according to my thrifty mindset, not even with 50% off for this little bird. So, I took a picture of it (as I always do when I see someting I like), for future inspiration of sorts.

Ever so often, I'd take a peek at the little bird because I was about to slowly break down and purchase the little jewel..ALMOST. Till, on day while my mom and I were out shopping at our favorite store, what did I walk up on...

SCORE!! Ceramic birds! Not a lot of detail, but my bird none the less and I LOVE them. Then to top that off, take a looksie at the price

So now on to the transformation. I didn't want it to be an exact replica, but something close with a hint of bronze in it. Although my first mind keeps screaming CREAM CREAM..you know you love CREAM. Nerp, I wanted a green undertone with some bronze/brown as the major color.

Almost finished...and take a wild guess as to what happened..yup

I don't like the look of them. So what's a crafty girl to do when she see her little birdies going in a direction she don't like?

Follow her first mind and paint them cream^_^

How about some crackle medium too. Ahh...a bit of vintage shabby, just what I like. Although the birds didn't have as much carved detail to them, I think I like them better that way. I debated back and forth on the finish, whether I should go for a glossy or matte finish and decided on a matte finish. I think in keeping with the matte finish, it gives the birds more of a distressed/vintage look. And that's the exact look I'm going for with my guest bedroom.

After we're done with our guest bedroom, I'll be sharing some pictures of the process. We're planning a low budget guest bedroom design, so I'm going to enjoy thrifting for the decor, especially the bed. I'm trying to decide on a bed right now, but I guess I'll let my FAVORITE local thrift store make the decision for me. Full size or two twin size beds?? Time will tell. I also have a trip planned with a girly friend of mine to go thrift shopping in Georgia soon. We KNOW there are lots of steals at this thrift shop so she's planning on using one of her company mini trucks for this day trip...this is going to be funny. I feel a video coming outta this trip.

After the Devastation

Hebrew 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

As I type this days after the storm, I still fight tears, my heart is still heavy for those that were affected by this storm. I've prayed that the Lord forgive those that lost their lives, for any wrong doing they have done and that he see fit for them to enter his wonderful kingdom of Heaven when he return. You see I do believe that Jesus is coming soon. Not just because of this horrible storm, but because it seems to be that we are living our last days - Revelation.

This storm took the state of Alabama almost by surprise. I say almost because we knew it was coming and we knew it would be bad, but NEVER did we ever think to this magnitude, EVER.

I don't think there has ever been a tornado of this magnitude ever. I think Don's co-worker told us it was classified as a EF5. And in the mist of all people have the nerve to try stealing from these people. While in the Oakgrove area, we saw a guy being arrested by two sheriff and they were looking at what ever he had stolen that was in his car. I could have hit him with a rock...wrong I know, but it just makes me mad.

I often wonder if this nation will ever get it right. What's "it" you ask...EVERYTHING. We as a people, all people from all walks of life just don't get it. We are so engulfed with our own petty issues such as jealousy, materialism, hatred, etc, that we don't see the big picture-JESUS. Plain and simple Jesus.
As the storm passed over my neighborhood/home this among other items was left behind as traces of how powerful this storm was. We kept hearing bumping sounds hitting our roof, so my husband decided to leave our safe place to take a look out the window..then he opened the door to take a look. Yes, that was EXACTLY the wrong thing to do but he did and to his surprise he got an eye full. He called me to come look, to my surprise the wind had brought a circular motion of debris right in front of our eyes. There was a baby receiving blanket, a bed pillow and lots of shingles floating. The bumps we kept hearing was pieces of sharp edged wood that eventually fell of the roof to our front yard. I thank God no one was outside at the time because it could have been far worse. Then right after that what he saw was just...speechless. We actually saw the tornado (blocks and blocks over) passing us by. I only looked for a second and then demanded that he come back to our safety place. It was then, that I realized this is exactly how people are harmed or killed by tornado's. To see this thing is just breath taking and not in a good way. You are so shocked at what your seeing, just unbelievable to say the least. God is more than good!

Don spent half the night trying to locate some of his co-workers that live in various areas that were affected. He eventually got in touch with all but one and that worried us. As soon as day broke the next morning he headed straight to the co-workers (what used to be) neighborhood and started to search, as I stayed home and prayed for a rescue instead of a recovery. God is more than good! Not only did he find the coworker, he also helped him find his sister, and she was alive and well thank God.

See, it's one thing to lose all of your "Worldly possessions" see that stuff is only temporary anyway, it don't truly belong to us. But to have been spared by God's awesome Grace and Mercy...Bless his holy name!

We've been in a situation where we lost all of our worldly items. It was a bit upsetting, yes, I won't lie. But the day after, I realized we had each other and we had our lives..and for that I was very thankful. To not have "stuff" that's nothing, BUT to not have Jesus...

I pray daily for those effected by this horrible horrible storm. I will continue to assist where I can and to do what I can to bring at the least a smile to a victim's heart. But to those that lives were spared, I pray that they realize although this storm may have taken away the items they possessed, God's grace has given them the best gift of all - LIFE...renewed life. Live it to the fullest and by that I mean by praising God for his daily blessings.

Have faith in God. He is all we need:)

May God continue to bless us all and may we all continue to lift his name in praise.

Unfinished Business

My very first quilt..well sorta, it's an unfinished quilted table runner. I missed the deadline on the table runner challenge I participated in due to previous obligations and lack of efficient crafting time:(

It really bummed me but I'm still quite proud of myself (although it's still not complete).

I debated on the pattern so much that it's crazy. I wanted ruffles down the middle but the idea I had wasn't agreeing with the fabric. I will complete a ruffled table runner as soon as I finish this one. I already have the pattern sketched:)

I can't wait to have it completed. I'll update my final product as soon as it's done. I also can't wait to share some card projects that I've completed, but for right now they are on the "Do Not Share" list. Once, I've been given the ok, then I'll share them here.

Below is one card I think I've shared earlier that I completed for Sketches 4 cards Apple Ipod/Ipad app.

I have more cards that I've created for a new app that'll be release soon. As soon as I can share those I will. I have some other scrappy things in the works, and I'm praying that all goes well and again I'll share that info as soon as I complete the details.

Butterick 5450

Where have I been you all say...I've been sewing crafting sewing - WHEW!
Last week the sewing fairy waved her wand over me and I've been on a sewing high. Praying that it continues because I'm trying my best to carve in more sewing time.

Pattern Description: Butterick 5450 Misses Petite Top, Tunic and dress

Pattern Sizing: Misses 14-20

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, Just like the pattern stated fast and easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked that the pattern is only 4 pieces. I had no dislikes at all with this pattern.

Fabric Used: Linen blend

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any alterations but I did omit the hook and eye. I saw no need in it, plus I hate hook and eye's on any garment. I also didn't line the bodice of the dress (I will line the next one I make).

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I do plan on sewing it again, per the request of my husband, I will sew it in black. I highly recommend this pattern.

My weakness (well one of them) is zippers. I have a tassel of a time getting my zippers right. It's always hit or miss and this one is a miss. I plan on ripping this zipper out and redoing it.

But in the meantime, I wore it with a cardigan (My $4.98 find from Target).

*And yes, I'm sitting on a pillow not the weathered bench*

Military news:

Karohn is doing fine, but oh how I miss my son. He's been doing well in school (engineering) and once he finish his classes he will be home on leave. Then it's off to Guam for 3 years.

I know he's going to enjoy his time in Guam. I pray that he has a safe and wonderful tour of duty there. And that he learn and explore as much as he can while he's there.

Inspiration - Getting my Mojo Back

Now that we're back from our little trip, I've got to get my mojo smokin. Before I left I was looking for a soft colored cardigan. For no particular attire, I just wanted a soft colored one with a little something on it. Found this one at Target that pretty much fit the bill..soft in color, a little something extra BUT I was not paying $25 for simplicity.

Now the little flowers are different and I like that about it, but I can and will create one myself. So now I'm in hunt of the perfect pull over and I think I will even shorten the sleeves to a 3/4" sleeve and add buttons down the center of the sweater or add a tie front (I'm leaning more for the tie front).

Now this sweet little dress I found in the Nordstrom outlet. It is simply adorable. Thing is I "currently" would not wear my arms out in formal wear (due to my size). And you simply can't wear this dress and cover up those pretty ruffles. But that ruffle effect I will use on something else, just don't know what yet. Stay tuned...

Now this dress...ummm is a hotMESS. It's like carrying a harness or a baby pack on your upper torso..a bullseye even. But this still inspired me, only in my paper crafting. I also see an attempt on a new pin cushion and if my redesign works out..hmmmm I see one being up for grabs right her on my blog.

Now these tie front dresses..I NEED like 3 of these: one floral, one blue and one simple girly chic one. I already have a pattern that's a close match to the inspiration dress, I'll just have to make the tie front alteration.

And this olive and khaki dress - Nuff said. Gotta have one!

I have the perfect fabric for this PJ dress. I want like "A LOT" of these for the hot summer. So comfy! And I love pretty pj's.

These two dresses I just thought they were pretty. I currently have no need for a sparkly evening dress, I just wanted to add it because they are pretty. I am though and have been since January, been in hunt of the perfect holiday dress. Yup I've been thinking about my next Christmas dress since January..never too early:)

The Joy of Being a Navy Mom Warning PIC HEAVY

This is my joy...SR Karohn (I know the pic is blurry, I didn't scan in the pic just used my phone)

First I'm going to share this experience I had the day before we left for Great Lakes. As we were preparing to go home and get a few winks of sleep before our drive to IL, of all people I end up seeing Karohn's "biological" aunt. She was one of the better ones from "that side" of the biological gene pool, as far as her attitude but that's all she has going for her is her kind ways. But in seeing her, I was surprised at all the emotions that riled up in me. Initially I felt mad, like my heart raced a little bit. I have not clue why I felt anger, but as we passed her that feeling started to fade. My anger turned into happiness. Happiness because I then realized how blessed I was..tomorrow I will be in Illinois, one day closer to seeing MY son.

See, I had THE MOST worst experience with his "biological" gene/donor. I blame me for at the time being young and ignorant for staying in the situation and hiding it from others. By the time I decided to end all that nonsense I was 20 and pregnant with Karohn..and get this I did NOT like kids AT ALL. So to say Karohn was and is a blessing is putting it mildly, because I had no clue what to do with a child. I was about 5 months pregnant when I decided I'd had enough of this foolishness and I ended it all right then. I then realized that I can do anything I put my mind to, and that's when I begin to realize that just maybe I am capable of raising a child. Although I had the help of my parents, especially my mom, I did it and I must say I did a fine job of doing so too.

But it is times like this that I get a bit mad. The nerve of "you" to have kids and not contribute to their lives. The nerve of "you" to have kids and not be a man first of all but not be responsible. In the end though, I guess I really should thank "you" for being a irresponsible inconsiderate incapable idiot. Now when I look at it I see that I've raised a educated, God fearing, responsible, mannerable, well rounded, adventurous, giving, humble and very handsome young man. Adjectives NO ONE would ever consider calling "you". And for that, I'm thanking God first then my parents for EVERYTHING.

I was still shaking with happiness when we took this picture. And yeah of the cold too, you can't tell it but it was snowing when this pic was taken.

My solider. And yes he was talking to me as I snapped the pic. I just couldn't stop:) But he was telling me I was snapping pics in a restricted area..so shhh

The two things (besides seeing us) that made him smile ear to ear.. His phone and getting some Subway. LOL

Up next was dinner at: We had SO much fun at dinner with Kim and Armand. I think we all laughed more than we ate. Karohn even really enjoyed talking with Mr. Armand, so I'm sure he'll be calling him to hang out soon. *Watch out Armand* lol

We really really enjoyed having dinner with Mrs and Mr Kim:) Thank yall soooooo sooooo much!!

NOW, I know this is in a backward state BUT, I did do some fabric shopping with Kim..silly Kim! Although she doesn't sew, she was so kind enough to meet me at Vogue Fabrics when we first arrived.

She popped my hand away because I tried to touch OUR husband "Shemar Moore" on her phone..hmph the nerve of her. Shemar and I have been a couple since I was in my teens! So she need to let.it.go! lol

I didn't purchase a lot of fabric, but I did pick up some pretty pieces that was on a great sale. They also had some very pretty silk Dupioni fabric in a almond color, Ahh, utter beauty. But it was a beautiful $15 per yd, I'm just not that professional yet.

I love the fabric(s) I purchased..YAAY!

Then Kim pointed us in the direction of hotdogs. We had a list of foods we wanted to have while there and hotdogs were at the top of our list.

This right here...RIGHT HERE!! Goodness from a street corner is what it is. I had the beef hotdog ______________ that blank is silence of the yummo!

Don tried the grilled pork chop sandwich..I meant sammich! And that hot pepper mm mm mmmm!

Next up was the Chicago pan pizza...again_____________________

You can ONLY eat one slice and you are good if you finish that one slice.

Overall, we had a fabulous trip. I totally enjoyed my military experience with Karohn. I hated to have to go. Words can not express the joy I felt in watching our (Don and I) son as he marched in to graduate from the Naval academy. The joy I felt in the tight hug he gave me and the huge huge smile that came across his face when he saw us. I think in a matter of minutes his childhood flashed before my eyes..I could see that happy little kid that was so happy to see me home from work:)

I pray and wish the very best for Karohn. I know he will make us all proud...he already has

Twisted Sketch #50 - Sweetness

Today Twisted Sketches has a new card sketch up. Need a little boost to get your mojo started??

For this card I chose to do a simple yet chic interpretation. I created a card very similar for my aunt's birthday and before I gave it to her, I realized HEY this fit the script of my next sketch - duhh. So what's a girl to do but create another card for my DT:)

Supplies:
Card Stock: Spring Moss
Pattern Paper: MME Coastal "Celebrate Party" Flowers
Stamp: Michael's G Stamp collection
Ink: TH Distress in Crushed Olive
Embellishment: Lace, ribbon, Prima Flower (rose), Pearls

Now on to some sweetness:)

I was just in a baking mood, BUT I was also yet so tired. I didn't follow my better judgement with a couple of things, but the cake was still really tasty. And yes, I let the glaze run where ever it wanted to run, I did not use my cake plate/transfer method..I threw prettiness right outta the window. (smile)

My review of this cake recipe: It was good, not too sweet but tasted nothing like key lime pie. I will revisit this recipe but I will also tweek a couple of things. I think the glaze measurements were all wrong, you will definately need more lime juice for the glaze.

Key Lime Pound Cake

Total: 2 hours, 45 minutes Yield: Makes 12 servings
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lime zest
1/4 cup fresh Key lime juice

Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 325°. Beat butter and shortening at medium speed with a heavy-duty electric stand mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until blended after each addition.
2. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to butter mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla, lime zest, and lime juice. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch (12-cup) tube pan.
3. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes or until a long wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 to 15 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack.
4. Prepare Key Lime Glaze, and immediately brush over top and sides of cake. Cool completely (about 1 hour).

Key Lime Glaze

Prep Time: 5 minutes Yield: Makes about 1/2 cup
Ingredients
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons fresh Key lime juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation

Whisk together powdered sugar, fresh Key lime juice, and vanilla until smooth. Use immediately.

Over all this is a good cake..I just didn't taste any lime. But as I said earlier, I will remake this cake but tweek the measurements of lime and lime zest used for added flavor.

The Alabama fan. Karohn couldn't wait for his college recruit visit at Alabama..then came the girls *shivers in my boots*.

For this LO, I think I combined a bit of everything..staples, stitching, acrylic paint. I guess I just went a bit wild on here huh?

For the music lover: Yet again I used so many different textures on this LO. The flowers I think are the last of either Graphic 45 or umm Basic Grey?? hmm I dunno, I've had them for a while and now they are almost gone *insert sad face* I love these rustic flowers.

I love this picture of Aaron..looks like he's actually playing right?? WRONG. The child plucked a string before we left home then his "daddie" plucked one while we were there.

I don't know who this kid thought he was (professionally) but it was funny that he thought it would be cool to unbutton his shirt for this shot..funny it worked:)

I'm so in love with Crate Paper's school spirit collection..love it! It comes as one sheet, but I cut it down to single and multiple grade cards to use as I wish on cards and LO's.

And the little buckle you see here, came in a package of different shapes..what better way to use them.

This little tag (lol) is the sample tag found on the package of Tim Holtz grunge paper. Yes people, I throw NOTHING useful away:) I just sprayed a coat of mist on it and it was set to go. The metal brad was already attached to the mini tag.

Ok on to some (just some) of the items I want:

I've been looking at this dress for days, I really really want to make this dress. I've seen a pattern similar to it but I really don't like the pattern. I do already own a pattern that I have made before that's similar to this dress. I think I'm going to make that same dress again and try my hand at adding the ruffled edge myself.I really like this simple tunic. I think the side ties is what drew my attention. This is (or I hope will be) an easy one.BELTS!!!! Man oh man I'm so into belts. I often purchase them and just look at them, never wear them..but I'm changing all of that. I have got to have this belt and it's truly an easy creation. I need like 2 of them and I think I'll be good...I think

Oh and the double belts are back. I remember wearing these..umm...when I was younger. LOL

And I want about every style I can find in these.

What I'm currently working on:

I started on this easy peasy project this past rainy weekend. Ended up being soooo mad because I only needed ONE INCH more of fabric to complete my last cut. So I ended up running back to Walmart to get the last 5/8 yd of fabric..yea I know. Well I hope to have a post on this and a couple more sewn projects next week.

I'm on a "make my own cardigan" train right now. I've already completed one and have worn it twice. I actually have on a top as I speak that I've been thinking of turning it into a cardi..it's begging me to cut it up the center and make it a cardi and purchase a pretty satinish wide ribbon to wear as a belt around it (which I'll probably sew into the side seams). I also purchased a blue pull over last week from Tarjay for $2bucks that I can't wait to re-create. All I need is 4 bling buttons to add to the sleeve..YES!!

So until my next post, go get creative..after all it is National Craft Month.

Just a Few Projects

Here we are March already, seems as if February just flew by. But I am so ready for spring, I can just smell it in the air.

One other good thing about March is it's National Craft Month. So why don't I start the month off with just a few cards I've created. I never took "real" pictures for posting (only took the pic for my files only), I actually didn't consider sharing these cards, but figured hey it's National Craft Month so here goes...

I created this card for my brother to give as a get well card to one of his co-workers that was injured. This card is one of the larger cards I've created to hold lots of cash.

I love this card!! Forgot who I gave it to, but you'll never guess where the pattern paper on the lower half of this card came from...

YES!! It's the paper found in the Prima Flowers package. Don'tcha just love it! I always keep the patterned paper from my Prima flowers, it's just so lovely:) The one shown below will also be repurposed more than likely on a card.

I love the white writing on the thick plastic. I just hope I don't end up rubbing it all off before I get to use it.
I think this card will be for my neice..

This card was also created to hold lots of cash. It was given to one of my co-workers with lots of love inside:)

Pattern Description: Loose-fitting, below hip or mid-thigh length pullover tunic with kimono sleeves and neckline variation

Pattern Sizing: L-XL

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much

Were the instructions easy to follow? They were very easy, I only read over them and didn’t go back to it. Although I did omit the bias tapered neckline and elastic waistband

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The UNinstruction on completing the elastic waistband. If I’d actually wanted the elastic waistband the instructions were written for someone that already knew how to complete this step

Fabric Used: Sheer poly something or nother blend..basically I don’t know. I snabbed this fabric from Walmart for $1.50 per yd

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: As stated above, I eliminated the ribbon hem, elastic waistband and bias tape neckline. I didn’t think these steps were necessary for the fabric I used. When I sew this again, I will continue to exclude the ribbon, but will use the bias neckline and elastic waist.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, the other has already been cut. I highly recommend this to beginners.Conclusion: Very very very easy pullover that can easily be dressed up.

**Side note: I cut/made the XL and in wearing it, it was sorta everywhere. I will cut my second one top down to a large instead of the XL.

Twisted Sketch Card Challenge #48

Hi there my fellow crafters, welcome to the weekend! Woot Woot!!

Can you tell I'm in true need of a weekend? I'm quite so chipper about it being Saturday - YES!! Ok..moving right along. Today is card challenge day over on the Twisted Sketches blog and here is my version of the latest sketch.

I wish you could see the distressing on the card, I think my flash just whiten it out. Although you can see the distress on the edges of the french logo. I love that it actually looks burned on the edges. Up close you can see just a little of the distressing on the artisian element but not as much as what's really on it or the french logo.

Supplies Used:

Cardstock: Kraft-Papertrey Ink

Pattern Paper: Family Roots-My Mind's Eye (both sides)

Ink: Tim Holtz distress inks in walnut stain and antique linen

Paint: Linen, Golden Brown and Crackle Medium by Folkart

Embellishments: Scalloped chip board; Thread; French print from The Graphic Fairy; Pink Paislee swirls artisian element

Tools: Brother Sewing Machine

Now the glitch LOL..did you happen to notice the error with my card? Hmm what could it be?? Let me know if you see my mistake. I couldn't believe I did it, and actually there were two errors but one only count the other is a personal preference..a step I left out that I usually do. Ah well, I love the card just the same and I will be using it:)

And now, how about a peek at just one of the projects I've got to complete

Wooohoooo!!! I've been sewing yall!!! I just need to hem the skirt and purchase..yes purchase the perfect jacket pattern and more of the brown fabric for this little number then I'll be set.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

On this day twelve years ago I married my best friend...

It has been 12 years of marriage, 1 yr of dating, and 30 years of friendship and God has seen us thru it all.

I'm thankful..Thankful for the good times and the bad, our ups and downs because without both we cease to grow. I'm thankful that we have never been the type of couple that needed to share with the world all the good that happen's in our lives, one's that have to share every.single.detail. We know several couples that are that way and it's not becoming. Especially when they pretend to be the "perfect" couple and you know their dilema's. We don't rejoice in their issues, but why pretend..life happens to ALL of us. We all have our trials, it's surviving the trial that makes you stronger.

I'm happy that we are not materialistic nor boastful people, there's no need for that. It's doesn't make you any better of a person and it certainly don't give you any points toward getting into the Kingdom of Heaven - NOPE it don't.

The hubster is truly my best friend, I tell him everything (especially when I'm mad) lol.

I remember back when we were newlyweds and I heard a pastor say: Marriage is the union of two imperfect people coming together as one. I had never thought of it that way at the time, but it stuck with me. It made me realize that neither one of us would get everything right but if we kept Christ as head of our lives we would be just fine.

We have laughed a lot, played a lot and even cried. We have endured the passing of loved ones, including his mother and my brother. I couldn't have EVER asked for a better mother in law, she was NOTHING like I've heard other MIL's being like, Rose was just as her name sake - A Rose. (I love her)

If I had it to do all over again, I would marry him - AGAIN:) I love him and I know he loves me and we both love God (first)..so with that I know we are all right. Nothing else really matters.

Happy Anniversary honeyboo! I love you dearly!! I pray daily that we are blessed to share many many more years together...you know how much I've been wanting a large porch with two white rockers ;)

Keep Christ first in your life and cherish each other. Don't take anything for granted, love love love and then some.

Baby Gifts

I have a friend that has been blessed to be having her second baby soon:) Babies are such an amazing and wonderful gift from God.

I decided to create little Ion's gifts..from me to him. I'm also working on the second half of his gifts to be delivered once he's born. Let's first start with his card. I made a pretty simple and quick card for him..too cute.

The little duck was created with my Cricut cutting machine (I sooo want the Vagabond). I created a border straight stitch joining the pattern paper and the Lemon Tart cardstock. Aren't you surprised I didn't use any lace? lol I sure am.

Upclose:
I used pop dots to give some dimesion to the card and added a baby blue pearl for the eye. I tattered the edges of one of the pattern pieces and inked it with distressed ink in antique linen for a bit of a distressed look. *I'm telling you it almost hurt me not to use lace* His next card will most certainly contain lace and pom poms for sure^-^. I chose to use CTMH ribbon instead.

Up Next:

Baby blanket and burp cloth's. This fabric is so cute but initially I felt it was a bit busy, Aaron convienced me to get it. All in all, the mommy loved it and so did everyone else at the baby shower. One girl snatched it out of the mom's hand as soon as she pulled it out of the bag - WOW! She said, "Why didn't they have this when I had my baby" then said WHAT ARE THESE? lol She was speaking of the burp clothes..I was just inwardly beaming because she thought I'd purchased the gift.

Because I'm not really good..ok I'm not good at all with the over hand stitching I decided to hem as close to the edge as I could to hide the turn/opening. Then I measured and stitched the outter corners again about 2" from the original closure. Due to the main fabric being busy with baby animals, I decided to only create one of the burp cloth's in a different fabric print.

Here's the gift all pressed and folded and ready to be packaged. I was so happy mommy loved it, I sure hope little Ion is just as pleased:)

Now on to complete his welcome to the world gifts.

Isn't this the cutest little fleece fabric for a baby? Too cute! I'm going to create a little pillow and mini blanket for the car. And, I've already started on his bibs using some of the same fabric I used for his blanket and burp cloth's. So more pics coming soon.

Twisted Sketches Challenge #46

I've finally taken the leap into "the day of love" crafting:) I've been suppressing the urge to create spring cards, I think it's the weather getting to me.

I will only create the exact number of cards I need, whereas usually I create more than what I need to most holiday's. My time has been so limited lately that I can barely complete a task within the time I have after work. I can't wait till my February all day crop so I can complete some projects.

Cardstock: PTI - Raspberry Fizz, Ocean Tides and Fine Linen
Pattern Paper: MME
Ink: Distress Ink in Antique Linen
Other: Stamp -Michaels brand; lace by Spare Parts

I seriously use a LOT of lace. I love lace, doilies, vintage..making new things old:)

Letter's to a soldier:

As soon as we received Karohn's mailing address, we ALL begin writing letters to him. I think we mailed out about 10 letters at one time:). He should be quite happy. I can't wait to get to Chicago for his graduation, then to find out where his next duty station will be (praying for the Southeastern area).

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be updating more on his military life soon. We haven't received a full letter from him yet...wonder how he's braving the snow LOL.

Happy Weekend!!! I'm so excited about this weekend..so happy to be here first of all.
I'm going to make this a quick post then it's off to my favorite thrift store for a bit of shopping:)

Card Pattern Challenge #99

Hi there!! I think I'm close to being back in the saddle again with my paper crafting challenges. I've had so much going on lately that I've not had much time nor energy to craft much. But you know, I will certainly find time and a way to get a little something done. So anyway here's to another card creation:)

For this card I decided it was high time I got my booty in the spirit of Valentine's, so please bear with me as you will see plenty more vintage valentine card postings.

I love lace, script paper and stamps, as you know I use it often. I used the tightest zig zag stitch so that the stitching would be very noticable.

NOTE: When stitching on your LO's or cards, be sure to not use adhesive (on the back of the area) on the space where you will be stitching.

I stitched over my ribbon and lace being sure to pick up the bow portion of my ribbon. I stitched it that way for added security of my ribbon, plus I just liked the look of it. Also, being that the (reverse) stitching will also show on the inside, I covered it with the same color cardstock and will stamp a valentine sentiment on it and write my sentiments on the bottom half of the card before mailing it. And yup, if you wondering who this card will be mailed to it is to Karohn:)

About a week or two ago, I was contacted by a fellow blogger Cynta with the news that she had given me a "Stylish Blogger Award". I thought that was the coolest thing ever to receive..shoot to even be thought of to receive an award from a fellow blogger. Thanks again Cynta!

I do hope that within my blogging about my successes, trials and errors of the various crafts I love so much, that possibly I do it with style and class. And that possibly someone will be actually inspired by my work.

A New Start

Karohn has officially left for the Navy

Today marks the day of a new start. Not only for Karohn but for me...as I try my best not to cry again, I can only think back 20 years ago. I think about the day he was born, his first birthday, the things he used to say, how he was (and still is) a wonderful and respectful human being.

He was never the kind of child that would cut up in private or in public, we never had to tell him "NO" to the same thing twice. He has never been one to rebel or that loved hanging with a crowd, but yet he has always been popular with his peers. I think about how in his teen years, we never placed a curfew on him, initially I think we just wanted to see if he had sense enough to come home in a respectful manner (hour). And, he has never let us down, he almost always called at some point of him going out and he always came home at a decent time *EXCEPTION: twice he didn't and both times he was in the so called care of the SAME so adult, so we had to put a end to that.

Now, as I say all of that, know that he was still a kid. I had to tell him to do things 2 and 3 times before it was completed and I also have had to issue warnings, and even punishments for not doing things timely. But in his life I think he was only reprimanded twice and the first time it wasn't due him. So overall, I thank God I've never had any true disciplinary issues out of him and I will continue to pray that he remains the same throughout his life.

And today, I find myself thinking back over the years past wondering and praying that I've taught him all he needed to know. Did I teach him the proper values of life, did I love him enough, did I love him too much, did I cover all the aspects such as having integrity, knowing and having a relationship with God and praying daily with out shame, the value of a dollar, how to be a respectful person, how to handle life's situations expected and mainly the unexpected, so on and on. I think I feel like I'm running out of time..but then I realized, it's never too late and I can never stop teaching him. BUT I also realize that Karohn is not my "baby" anymore he is my young man, he's an adult. An adult entering into the next phase of HIS new life..a new life I have no control over. And as I type I'm beginning to realize that part of me is struggling with letting go of "Control". I feel like I had him in a controlled environment and that he was..I guess pretty much protected, and if a situation were to rise I was always there for him.

I do realize in the Navy they will teach him things that I could not, and they will take good care of him (Not like his mom OF COURSE). But, I know that his neccessities will be provided. As his mom I am concerned, but I know that he will be alright.

I love Karohn and I wish his the very best in life. My hopes is that he does what I've taught him and that he makes the very best out of his career, continues to enjoy what life has to offer and offer life something back in return. I pray that he is blessed with a wonderful and successful career and that one day he has a great family and teach his kids the same and beyond. I will miss his presence in our home, but as he loves to travel, I look forward to his new joy and experiences he will return with upon his visits. And you know I'll now begin updating my post with military pics..I'm now a Navy mom.

May God continue to bless Karohn as he embark on a new phase in life.

**Side note - Aaron has already let me know that for right now he's not going anywhere so I can stop hugging him so tight. He said he'll only go stay with Karohn when we go on vacation (can't believe he's giving us up for vacation). And, he said he intend on attending Troy State College (where Karohn attended) but he'll have a better looking dorm than Karohn had and once he graduate he'll go to live with Karohn. LOL

Ok, I'm off to enjoy the rest of the time we have left together as a family before it's time to drop him off. We have had a great laid back weekend together, I have laughed and cried, but all in all I know my young man will be just fine.

Twisted Sketches Card Sketch #42

Happy Happy HAPPY weekend to you! I know I've been away for a while BUT I'm planning on posting more soon *so get ready* :)

Are you ready for a new card sketch? Need a little New Year creativity mojo? Well I hope the card I created will help you get that mojo flowing.

This week I decided to try my hand at a bit of monochromatic color, with the exception of the card base of course. Well, let me say a bit of monochromatic with a splash of bling:)

For this card I mixed clear crystal bling with pearls and some purple studs. I also layered the lace between the punched cardstock. The die cut chandelier and banner was just an added twist to the sentiment.

This card and many more will soon be posted on my etsy site that'll soon been open. So stick with me for a couple more weeks as I complete my items and get myself prepared for "Open Shop".

I am very sorry that I'm late. I don't know why I didn't think to just post from work (as I've done before). Our modem died over the holiday so there was no way for me to post, well there was but..A new modem has been ordered and it's on the way...again I digress.

Anyway, let me start off by saying: Happy and Blessed New Year to you all! I wish everyone a happy, blessed and successful 2011.

How about a new card for the year? I've thought about challenging myself to create a card a day (Cards 365), so far I've created 2 cards in 3 days. I'll do a bit of catching up tonight or just skip the first missed day and just stay on target. I also have a goal of creating a LO a week, so there will be more on that soon.

My 2nd card of the year was created using the Mojo Monday sketch. This is my take on the sketch:

I decided to use gender bias colors being that this card will be given to a friend that has decided to be surprised by the gender:) And of course, I'll probably create a couple more cards for her before the baby is born, then I'll decide which one to send. LOL!

I really love the simplicity of this card plus the added bling..makes me smile.

Weekend Fun!!

Hello crafty blogmates! Hope you are having a great weekend. I for one am so happy to be enjoying a "weeks-end", I have had some kind of week. God has seen me through it and I thank him so much for blessing me...and I've decided to share *More on that in a minute*.

Today is a new "Twisted Sketch" Saturday..YAAY!! I know I know, settle down papercrafters, I'm almost there:) Today is sketch #38 and the twist is chipboard. Now you all know how I love to play with chipboard and alter it. Somehow I ended up taking the mild road with it this time.

Here's my take on the sketch:

I even played with a tighter stitch on my card this time (trying something other than zigzag) and I like it.

Don't you just love all the bling and glitz? I do ^_^

For the flower, I stamped it on some pink cardstock, and enhanced the color using my Sakura glitter pens. I painted the chipboard frame with acrylic paint and I used crackle medium for the crackle effect. For this card I didn't use so much of a sentiment, but created it as a basic card for any use.

Products used: Papertrey Ink card stock; Vintage Pink Pattern paper; Martha Stewart floral stamp; Pearls; Chipboard; Martha Stewart glitter; Acrylic paint/Crackle Medium; Florish; Cricut machine for the die cuts and of course my sewing machine.

Home decor...yes I'm at it again. I'm still working on trying to make my living room feel all warm and cozy (not to be confused with cluttered and over crowded).

No one really sits in our living room but me, can't understand why it's called a "living" room when no one likes to be in there..lol. My living room is my space of solititude, where I can curl up with a book and read to my hearts desire **BTW: Kimberla Lawson Roby's new book will be released in January 2011!!** When I'm in the living room, somehow my kids and hubby don't bother me...like they don't see me even. It's my comfort zone for sure. A great book, my throw and a little jazz playing in the background and I'm GREAT!

Right now the issue is (1) I'm waiting on the hubster to build my sofa table (2) I would love to have the sofa and chairs reupholstered and (3) something is just missing...modern decor. I've looked at maybe adding more pillows to the decor, I'm just not sure what angle to take. We've also thought of adding a wall mounted fireplace, being that our home does not have a fireplace. I think that's a great way to cozy up a room, I love a fireplace and actually miss having one. I've been looking through the Modern Decor site and loving everything I see, trying to get an idea of what I want to fill my living room space. I think once Don build my sofa table, I'll know which direction I want to go from there. I do love when he create pieces for our home, then I can build upon it (decor wise) from there.

In the meantime, I'm in the mood for a give-a-way...how does a $45 gift code sound? I'm going to give a $45 gift code to one lucky winner to be used at Modern Decor. Go take a look at what they have to offer..home decor, furnishings, etc..so much to see and like.

How on earth did I forgot to link up and remind you all of the card sketch going on at Twisted Sketches this week...ACK!!

Well at any rate..here ya go.

I decided to create outta the box and do a sweet little girl card using up some scraps I had. For my layers I cut a template using my cricut using the various colors from my printed paper. The yellow strip on the card is the reverse design of the sugar and spice pattern. And this card is a 5 X 5 base card (folded).

Anyway, although this is not my design week I like to still share a creative idea with ya. So before this week is out, click on over to the Twisted Sketches blog and check out the sketch and the other designer's inspiration.

December Daily Sneak Peek and Gifts

Happy December Daily eve!! I'm well over excited about creating my December Daily for 2010. Here is a sneak peek at just a few of the items that I'll incorporate into my DD for this year. I also have some corragated cardboard set to use and more ribbon..of course. I'll be using plenty of paint and Tattered Angels inks also.

Now on to my Christmas gifts for my neices and nephew's. This is also something that will be included in my DD, being that I'll get started on making these blankets December 2nd.

The above fabric is for my neice's. I fell in love with the owl's, so my no sew gifts have now turned into a half sewn and half no-sewn gift treat.

I guess I need not say that these little monsters are for the little monsters:). Mr. Aaron saw the dinosaur fabric, grabbed it and ran. He love this fabric..too bad. lol

Guess who wanted in on the blankets..and he has already RE-requested another one. He's jealous of Aaron's Alabama blanket.

And last but NOT least...MINE MINE MINE! This is the cutest fabric, it's flannel..soo soft and prettyyy! What am I going to make of it you say? I have NO CLUE! lol I was thinking on making a robe of the pink zebra fabric, then I thought of making myself a travel pillow..maybe both. I've lately been toying with the idea of making myself a rain jacket so that would make very nice lining..yea I think I have like 5 yds of both so I have enough to make what I want.

Just can.not.WAIT.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I tend to think of thanksgiving as giving thanks DAILY, not just one day of the year. Giving thanks first to God for all that he has done for me. Then to those that have crossed my path, for what ever the reason may be that I feel I should give them my heart of thanks.

I'm so thankful "daily" for so many things, if I wrote them all down I'd probably never stop writing. I thank God for the daily blessing of life, I thank him for all of the opportunities he's afforded me. I thank God for the blessings I've missed, I thank him for forgiving me for ALL that I've done...so thankful that he is a forgiving God.

I'm thankful for the people that are in or out of my life. YES, I'm thankful for those that are no longer in my life, whether their absence being due to our season change and their passing on. Although I may not associate with a person that was previously in my life, that does not mean that I don't think of them or am not grateful for what ever the lesson was I learned from our union. Like I said I'm grateful for ALL. There's a lesson to be learned from any and every experience in life, even mistakes made by others as well as ourselves.

I'm thankful for the wonderful parents I have. THIS, I almost have no words for...they are the most wonderful people I know and I just can't say enough about them. Now, I did NOT say they are perfect, none of us are. But I love love love them for who they are and for being the God fearing, level headed, loving parents they are.

I'm thankful for my husband..the man that God saw fit for me to marry. We have had a wonderful 20 years of friendship, 13 years of courtship and 12 years of marriage. He is my everyday comedian..lol. Sometimes I truly think this man missed his calling, although it can get on your nerves sometimes, I truly am thankful for his personality. Even when we have had our hard times, somehow he find a way to make you smile. He is always the life..not of the party of the space that he currently stand. He is wisdom, when I need it. He is my best friend..well one of my best friends (God first, my mom, then Don). Now don't get me wrong, we have had our fair share of ups and downs and everyday has not been a day of tulips, but that's all a part of life. One must remember that marriage is the joining of TWO imperfect people..so with that said, it's reality that you will have those moments when the two don't agree.

I am most gracious for my children. God has blessed me with two wonderful boys. He entrusted me to care for them on this earth and I do all in my power to be sure I carry out that task to the best of my ability. My kids mean the world to me, I love them whole heartly, I pray for them daily and thank God for each and every day that he breaths life into them. I'm thankful for all the little things I've gone thru with my kids, because I KNOW it could be worse. I'm so thankful for having children that are not into trouble and that listen to me. Even with Karohn being basically grown, he still comes to me and ask me about things..he let me know in advance his plans and has often even asked me about going out of town with some friends. I'm thankful for their willingness to be open with me..now that is truly a blessing.

Like I said there are many many more things I'm thankful for, and if I started listing them all I would be typing all night and day. My whole point was to possibly get across that "Thanksgiving" is not the only day one should think of Giving Thanks. Everyday, every hour, every minute God allows us to breath air, in our right minds..Everyday he provides a meal, a roof, a thread you should give thanks.

Thank God daily and be thankful for what you have don't take it for granted...

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of it.

Sketch Challenge #34

Hi again paper crafters! Hope you're having a wonderful and crafty Saturday. I for one am just ecstatic that I made it thru the work week and I'm so ready for my weekend.

So let's get started. Are you in need of a little card making inspiration? Well you are in the right place..let me add a little inspiration to your day:)

This card was created using this weeks sketch from Twisted Sketches. As you know each challenge at Twisted Sketches comes with a twist. This week's twist is "edge" any way any how. And as you can see everything on my card has a pointed edge, I didn't round anything on this card. Creating this card made me really put to use some of the corner chipboard I own and wasn't putting to good use.

Supplies:

Paper: Pattern - Explore tracks by We r memory keepers (Used for the tags)
Chic Stripes by MME
Basic - Chocolate/Bazzill Cardstock
Corner chipboard - Supply stash (Actually I threw away the label but I caught this bundle
of chipboard shapes on a super sale)
Acrylic paints - Plum Kiss and Village Green and crackle medium by Apple Barrell
Pop dots - Martha Stewart
Chipboard Letters - Thickers brown embroediry floss
Bronze eyelits - Unknown Stash

My Crackling technique:

Now, I don't proclaim to be an expert on crackling, but I like the outcome I receive. Always know you can experiment with different materials and crackle finishes to gain the look you like.

Ok, first I choose two contrasting acrylic paint colors for my project, one being darker than the other. I ALWAYS use my darkest color as my base color. Once the base color has been painted I allow it to totally dry (about 15 to 30 min) or you can use your heating gun to rush this process (I never use heat ). Second, apply crackle medium to the painted surface and allow it to completely dry. *NOTE* Keep in mind you'll receive a more define crackle finish, the thicker you coat your surface with the crackle medium. Just be sure to allow the Medium to dry in between each coat. Finally I top of the crackle with my lighter top coat of acrylic paint. Once this layer is applied, you will began to see the crackling start. *WARNING* Depending on the surface you are painting and the thickness you have painted it; reapplying paint onto existing wet paint will cause either smudges to appear or the total crackled finish to look messy and less cracked. So be mindful to allow all layers of paint or medium to dry before reapplying another coat.

Random Post of...STUFF

Can you say 'Inspiration Overload'? LOL And that's just one of my inspiration boards, I have one for jewerly items only. And believe it or not some items have been removed from this board, which indicates completion..YAAY! There are a couple of more items I need to remove and some I need to place on the board. But I'm having to take the board down soon because the Hubster is about to build (cut out a section of this wall) me a closet in my studio. Ahh the dust I have to look forward to, but the end result will be priceless. I'm in mega need of storage.

My *new* baby. I love her! She's a product of Don "Fred Sanford" Jr. I was like a kid at Christmas when he brought "Tasha" home. I immediately started snapping pics. I was way to happy when I accidently changed one of the photo functions and realized that I can also take my pics in black and white or Sepia. So now on to getting my manual reading on..haaraaa :D

I LOVVVVVE Spare Parts by The Paper Studio..BUT I will only purchase them when they have been marked way down. They are too expensive.
Although I've been altering my own bottle caps, I couldn't pass up purchasing these. I think they were like a dollar on sale.

Yall know I a blingage kind of girl. I love the bling and especially bling at a discount :p

This too was about $1.25 each.

The above two items were half off so the spiral bound scrap book ended up being $4 and the stamp was mmmm I think it was $2.50. I was so happy to find the postcard stamp being that I'll be making plenty of altered postcards soon.

Core'dinationsssssssss!! This paper I scored from Joann's for (drum roll) $0.19 each! These are just the various colors I purchased, but I of course purchased more than what you see here. And yes, I have a need for every.single.sheet:)

This bracelet is so me and I will be making it in 5...4...3....

I think the tag for this bracelet was like $68 bucks..are you kidding me?! Well this will surely become a part of my jewerly beauties to be worn.
I love receiving my catalogs...I love it more that I have the talent to re-create most of the inspirational/TOO EXPENSIVE items I see listed in most of my catalogs. And where my talent ends is normally where the Hubster's talent begin..hmm *wonders when he'll finish our outdoor bar*

I'll be back a bit later with a pencil skirt done right but zipper done OH SO WRONG. Shameful tales of sewing. And to think I was so proud to have used my zipper foot..SMH

Twisted Sketch # and More

Crafters...Are you ready?? It's time for another TWISTED SKETCH!! This week is not my design week, but as you know I love paper crafting.

For my card I went for a simple semi-rustic look. I think this is a good card for a male or female. And for this card, I was thinking of stamping a greeting on the inside..still undecided on that idea. The ribbon used on this card is pretty heavy, not too heavy, it's just the right weight for a card without being flemsy..I like that *wish I had bundles and bundles of it - caught it on a super sale*

Now on to Mr. Aaron the music man

Aaron often times select his own paper for embellishments for his LO's and then quickly disappears. His words are "I like this so use it on my craft picture and call me when you're finished". And yes, I often times take orders from an eleven year old..imagine that.

Well on this LO he only selected the base paper, although I didn't agree, I decided to use it.

I wanted to place something on the page that represented something from the picture. I found some black embellish ribbon/string to use and I think it's growing on me:) I figured it sorta replicate his guitar strings/notes. I used copper colored mini grommet thingies..I can't for the life of me remember the name of these things, but I love using them. UGH!! memory don't fail me now. Anyway, the ribbon is taped on to the back of the LO to secure them in place.

I love using my big ticket punch to add tickets on my paper crafts. I scored it from Big Lot's for $4.00 originally $19.99 YES!! I love a great item caught on sale. I used core'dinations chocolate/blue paper for the ticket and sanded (is that a word? hmm??) it for a little rustic feel.

The other patterned paper used is all from my scrap stash. And the letters are by Thicker's brown chipboard *also from Big Lot's for like a dollar...1 whole buckaroo*!

I will find a way to use all of my scraps up BEFORE December 31, 2010.

Twisted Sketches #32

Happy Saturday!! I could not wait till this weekend, I have had the longest three or maybe it's been four weeks in my life.

Anyway, I'm back with a new Twisted Sketch for this week(end). This is a great sketch may I add. This week, I'm all about Thanksgiving.

I just love the Thanksgiving printed paper, almost like I could smell the pie in the air as I scrapped. lol

This was an easy and fun sketch to work with, and it gave me a chance to dust off my square punch I almost forgot that I own. I have begun to fall in love with sketches, it takes the guess work out of trying to create a card. Pattern Paper: The paper studio -Thanksgiving words; MME signature paper "Pretty Girl"; PapertreyInk - dark chocolate, Core'dinations canvas texture in Frappaccino; MME "memories"dots/orange paper; Ribbon - unknown craft stock; Square punch - Creative Memory; Thanks stamp studio 18; Karen Foster typed letters; Pumpkins cut with my cricut using Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge.

Have you gotten your Thanksgiving menu together?

I have and I plan on us having a repeat of last year...Crab legs, cajun shrimp, crab cakes, rice pilaf or wild rice, fried and blacken Talapia w/a crawfish or shrimp alfredo sauce or shrimp alfredo and salad. This all depends on if the kiddo's change their mind on the menu, but being that they love seafood also, I'm pretty sure they won't change their mind.

I have no clue what my extended family is planning on doing, but being that Thanksgiving is only 3 weeks away..umm they need to get busy asking because I don't wait around to plan my weekends or holidays off. This year I do plan on having a relaxing day off so I can prepare for some early morning shopping with my mom on Friday...although she don't know it yet..teehee.

Twisted Sketches LO Challenge

Funny, this embellishment is a Halloween flower..see the spider web? I couldn't pass up the deal on the embellishment. lol

Guess What's on My Craft Table

YES!! I will be sewing this week..well actually starting Monday the first day of November. My plans are to shell out three of these sew easy skirts.

Take a closer look at the material...

Don'tcha just love it. And it was a WHOLE $1.75 from Walmart..SCORE!! This fabric has the look of denim but it's not. I love love love this fabric! I can't wait to get started.

The sewing mojo has kicked in and I'm in for the ride. Catch me if you can.......................... There's more to come that I plan on working on that's sew easy..or sew it says. LOL

Time for another sketch challenge with Twisted Sketches.

This week is not my week to design, but I will complete all the sketch challenges.

Supplies:

Cardstock - Vintage Cream - Papertrey Ink ; Black - Bazzill

Patterned paper - Vintage Damask - The Paper Studio

Painted and Glittered scallop chipboard - I used a cream colored paint and Carrara Marble glitter - Martha Stewart

Epoxy sentiment and ribbon- Stash

Now on to glittering chipboard. As I mentioned in my last card post, glitter is a good fix for chipboard you don't really like. Even if the chipboard has an exsisting color or print to it, you can alter it. Below are samples of chipboard I have that I wasn't using because I didn't like the look and didn't want to cover it with paper.

I used acrylic paint in white or cream and Martha Stewart (fine to medium) glitters to cover/alter the chipboard pieces.
